Develops creative concepts by working with leaders, design strategists, writers, and subject matter experts. Transforms draft materials and concepts into concise and meaningful end products.

The Client Design Team within Participant Strategy Experience (PSx) is seeking a Graphic Designer to drive our vision for visual guidelines and brand identity, a critical component to helping retirement plan participants achieve the retirement of their dreams.
In this role, you'll serve as a point of contact on all things design and brand, as well as assist with several key initiatives critical to the future of our team. You'll collaborate with marketing experts, writers, editors, leaders, design strategists, and external business partners to ensure all PSx materials meet our standards for design and readability, as well as support business goals that are critical to the future of the Institutional Investor Group (IIG).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with a cross-functional team, supporting senior designers and creative operations to create intentional, editorially relevant designs using Vanguard’s brand identity system.
  • Understands brand systems, standards, and guidelines. Can adapt to new brands quickly and translate those learnings into effective marketing pieces.
  • Conceptualizes, designs, and presents multi-channel marketing pieces with a human-centric approach. Some assets include brochures, emails, presentations, and microsites.
  • Translates business needs into viable solutions that capture brand and are targeted to different the appropriate audience.
  • Has the ability to explain rationale for design decisions that persuade business partners and senior leaders.
  • Can build a visual story with data by translating data from Excel into charts and graphic systems.
  • Creates and maintains templates, documenting detailed specs where needed.
  • Works with design leadership to understand and uphold standards of design quality across all materials.
  • Flexible in mindset and working approach. Embraces an Agile approach to work and encourages a continuous learning environment, open to art direction and collaboration.
  • Follows project workflows and timelines to ensure projects meet delivery deadlines; adopts design team procedures for naming, storing, and archiving digital files.

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum three years related work experience.
  • An undergraduate in a design, advertising, or communications field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Able to work with a diverse set of graphic design and UX software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, Sketch, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
  • Comfortable working with quick turnaround times and deadlines.
  • Portfolio of work to be submitted with application.
