Collins Aerospace is looking for a Digital Engineer who will be part of Digital Operations team as part of the Operations Modernization Organization. The team member will work with central and strategic business unit functions across Collins Aerospace on initiatives related to improving our Digital Operations with a focus on Smart Factory initiatives. The role is a highly visible, cross-functional and collaborative with significant interaction with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, IT and Internal Business Customers. You will provide systems and solutions expertise while effectively communicating with technical teams and business stakeholders. You will be required to operate with multiple projects simultaneously, creating data pipelines and visualizations to meet business and user requirements. In addition, you will need to have communication skills, the ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and the ability to learn and leverage new concepts/frameworks, process, and technology rapidly as changes arise.

This individual can sit at any Collins Aerospace domestic location or remote.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with central functions, strategic business unit digital partners on specific projects to improve our digital solutions supporting manufacturing and Collins Smart Factory/Industry 4.0.
  • Create digital pipelines and define and leverage solution architecture supporting improvement targets
  • Partner with internal customers, stakeholders, and cross functional teams to translate digital manufacturing requirements into scalable digital solutions
  • Map data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics to ensure data quality
  • Lead and support Smart Factory, Digital Thread, and Advance Manufacturing projects
  • Understand different data types, interaction methods and controls.
  • Assist team in developing robust analytical and statistical models that support Industry 4.0 Initiatives
  • Identify and manage scope concerns, risks, and issues and escalate as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be willing and able to travel 25% of the time (domestic & international)
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • Experience in developing and maintaining documentation for policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Being able to effectively interface between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Hands on experience with data mining, data exploration and visualization tools i.e. Tableau, Alteryx, Python, R preferred
  • Hands on experience in data queries using SQL
  • Manufacturing and Smart Factory/ Industry 4.0 experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP, MES and business intelligence systems (SAP preferred)
  • Manufacturing or Advanced Manufacturing shop floor experience
  • Digital Thread, Model Based Engineering, Machine Learning/ Artificial Intelligence
  • Understanding of Connectivity Protocols , Smart Devices
  • Software development / Programming knowledge and coding experience (Python, R, JavaScript, C#, or similar)
  • Experience in defining key business KPIs and Metrics
  • Certified in Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma with a demonstrated ability to establish and mature a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture
  • Experience using ETL tools i.e. Alteryx, Tableau, ThingWorx or similar
  • Understanding of Agile\scrum methodologies
