Job Description

The Group Manager, Digital Marketing Operations – leading NA Marketo Operations - will collaborate with Avanade's internal clients/stakeholders and lead the creation, optimization and activation of campaign activities using our central engagement marketing platform, Adobe Marketo Engage. Specifically, to support all tactics/channels with which we go-to-market: email marketing, events (virtual, traditional, tradeshows/booth visits), paid advertising, web/content engagement, solution-specific nurture flows, telemarketing/teleprospecting, our lead management process, proper tracking/attribution, manually importing activities, custom landing page design, etc.

In this role, he/she will partner with country/field marketers in all phases of our campaign framework including request submission/intake (using Adobe Workfront), requirements gathering, asset build-out, custom campaign flows/logic, testing, engagement tracking, scheduled execution and reporting/analytics.

In addition to leading the NA Marketo Ops team (and global team members), he/she will also work more closely with the Digital Marketing Operations lead as we continue to grow, integrate, optimize, and enhance our MarTech and SalesTech ecosystem. Activities will include working closely with key stakeholders to identify the appropriate user stories that will be used to align with the right platforms/services; integrate those platforms into our existing ecosystem; and promote/leverage the capabilities to the field.

While the focus of this role is North America, the consultant will be expected to provide support across our entire, global organization (backfill when other team members are on PTO, capacity exceeded in a specific area/region, etc.)

Required Skills –

  • 2-3 years of experience in B2B campaign design, integrated marketing and demand generation
  • 3 year or more of Marketo-specific experience
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member; and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Manage the relationship/budget with select vendors
  • Strong project management and facilitation skills
  • Ability to act as a trusted advisor and not always accept what’s requested; outside-the-box thinking/recommendations
  • Strong communication skills (over-communicating in this role is paramount)
  • Must display professionalism and confidence
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across various time zones
  • Willingness to support time zones that don’t necessarily align to the local time zone
  • Demonstrate the appropriate technical acumen/desire to operate in a highly complex, customized and powerful engagement marketing platform like Marketo
  • Ability to effectively operate and collaborate in a virtual work environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in business


Desired Skills -

  • Knowledge and experience using the Microsoft Teams and Dynamics 365 CRM platforms is desired but not required
  • Marketo Certified Expert certification

Key responsibilities –

  • Ability to create/modify the following in Marketo:
  • Localized programs using pre-built program templates
  • Complex campaign/nurture flows (smart campaigns and smart lists)
  • Emails (based on existing/approved templates)
  • Web forms
  • Landing pages
  • Dynamic content
  • Ad-hoc reports
  • Actionable insights to the field
  • Targeted audience list creation/list management
  • Filtered/suppressed audience segments that comply with regional/local regulations/laws (e.g., GDPR, CASL, etc.)
  • Ability to support the following Marketo features/requirements (existing Marketo experience is preferred):
  • Channels/tags/program statuses/program setup
  • Data management/optimization
  • Programs (including engagement programs, event and email programs)
  • Trigger and batch smart campaigns
  • A/B testing (emails and landing pages)
  • Real-time alerts
  • Manual campaign response tracking and attribution (e.g., UTM parameters)
  • Cloning assets/programs
  • Replicating and understanding existing/pre-built program templates to support new requests
  • Snippets/segments/tokens
  • Standard analytics/reporting
  • Marketo Advanced Analytics (Revenue Explorer)
  • Target Account Management
  • A solid understanding of our highly customized Marketo environment at Avanade
  • Attendance/participation of weekly Marketo Ops Team sync calls
