Collins Aerospace is looking for a passionate Sr Principal Systems Engineer to provide technical excellence in the fast growing Cabin Systems market. You will be involved in all stages of the product development life-cycle across various products. Tasks will include leading system requirements development, design, and product testing.

Chief technical engineer for the Cabin Systems OEM Project Management team. You will work across multiple domains and programs within cabin systems and across business units to incorporate new technologies. Leading internal and external discussion for development projects. You will support all life cycle activities including strategy development, concept development, detailed trade studies, pre contract requirements development, bid and proposal, development of baseline plans, execution of baseline, introduction to production, and support after entry into service. Responsibilities will include performing as the primary engineering interface to Cabin Value Stream Leader and OEM engineering team. Mentor for department project engineers for schedule, budget, and scope management. Coordinate with product line team to identify opportunities to integrate new features and functionality

Additionally, this role will be to provide mentoring and leadership for the development of new features and functionality across multiple products ranging from: Netflix like streaming service, wireless technology, Android/IOS App development, 3D Graphics with OpenGL, Embedded Java development, graphical user interface development with emphasis on user experience, cabin entertainment systems and helping to bridge consumer electronics to the aerospace industry. This position may be performed onsite or remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading system requirements capture, allocation and decomposition.
  • Performing system design requiring coordination across multiple subsystem functional areas.
  • Leading integration and testing of complex systems.
  • Leading engineers across multiple subsystems and contribute toward a positive team working environment.
  • Collaborating and working with remote peers.
  • Leading development of new system designs.
  • Leading a large product team.
  • Coordinate and plan execution efforts across multiple product development teams
  • Mentoring and developing engineering teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree ( Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) ) and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Self-starter able to multitask and successfully manage unplanned events.
  • Well organized and able to communicate effectively with engineering peers, leadership and customers.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making, and teamwork.
  • Practical experience integrating large systems
  • Experience planning and coordinating development tasks across multiple domains
  • Practical experience in system architecture.
  • Experience leading bid and proposal efforts.
  • Extended knowledge of systems engineering tools and processes.
  • Practical experience in all aspects/phases of product design and system integration & test
  • Developing and implementing new processes and standards

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or knowledge of Venue system design
  • Experience and/or knowledge of mobile app development.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of scripting languages
