As a Materials and Process Engineer at our Evacuation Solutions site, this role will work with minimal guidance and have the ability to communicate training and instruction to the engineering Community. The engineer will recommend materials and processes, write specifications, ensure compliance of materials with internal, customer, and environmental requirements, conduct failure investigations, write reports, develop and conduct test plans, and support the disposition of materials with quality questions. The position requires interfacing with internal and external customers as well as suppliers. •Manage multiple projects and project task activities. Project activities include project plan development, material processing and testing, data collection and analysis, and summarizing information in comprehensive technical reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates high level of self-initiative and bias for action.
- Maintain responsibility and accountability for entire task/project.
- Propose/create new procedures as required.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions.
- Proven track record of “getting things done.” This position will require a fair amount of lab work, so the individual must be hands-on and able to get things accomplished remotely.
- Some experience with accelerated aging/test method development.
- Collaborates with engineering staff to identify possible chemical or materials engineering related problems.
- Analyzes, researches, and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
- Performs material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis, for parts, systems and subsystems, and definition and requirement specifications.
- Execute tasks aligned with the engineering standard work tool.
- Supports the development of project plans, schedules and budgets for projects under his/her responsibility to ensure adherence to the established program plan, schedule, and budget.
- Identifies and addresses project problems and recommends resolutions to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Consult with Engineering Design, Supply and Quality operations as needed.

- Manage multiple projects and project task activities. Project activities include project plan development, material processing and testing, data collection and analysis, and summarizing information in comprehensive technical reports.

- Direct/delegate multiple tasks and activities including providing direction to lower-level engineers, technicians, and production personnel to achieve project objectives.
- Maintain responsibility and accountability for entire task/project.
- Propose/create new procedures as required.
- Demonstrated ability to propose projects and prioritize efforts without loss of lower-priority tasks for self and supporting personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions and patentable materials and processes.
- Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers, when required, to help them diagnose and solve problems and enhance their capabilities.
- Collaborates with engineering staff to identify possible chemical or materials engineering related problems.
- Analyzes, researches, and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
- Performs material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis, for parts, systems and subsystems, and definition and requirement specifications.

- Facilitates project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project objectives.
- Design, perform and supervise material testing and verification tests within the lab.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Chemistry, Material science, or Chemical engineering preferred
- Experience with polymer material test method development.
- Experience using and evaluating data from different pieces of Analytical Equipment (e.g. Tensile testing, DMA, DSC, FTIR, TGA, DMA, Rheometer, etc.) to drive formulation work and decision-making.
