What is the opportunity?

An opportunity exists for a Senior Software Engineer within the RBC Wealth Management Trading group. This position will be responsible for providing 7x24 application support for the Tradelink Application -Tradelink is a highly complex and mission critical Windows based trading desktop application which integrates various trading and RBC internal applications. You will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and support of UAT, IST and production environments. You will also be responsible for all implementing changes arising from projects; enhancements and fixes to all environments. You will participate in troubleshooting and fault isolation process of application problems as well as investigation and analysis of application failures.

What will you do?

  • Supports trading applications, works closely with Sr. Business Analysts on complex production gaps or issues.
  • Proactively assesses researches and analyses business and system issues/needs, exploring alternative options to recommend solutions and designs that meet business requirements.
  • Manages and supports release activities in Prod/UAT/Pre Prod environments. Supports QA testing in QA/Pre Prod environments.
  • Develops implementation and contingency plans ensuring verification is performed.
  • Manages joint production, testing and deployment projects and co-ordinates implementations.
  • Provides input and co-ordinates with DBA in creating new and modifying existing database structures based on required functionality.
  • Performs performance tuning (working with SAs/DBAs/Infrastructure) to improve performance over multiple functions.
  • Provides on-call expertise of applications, database, etc. specifically in business critical situations. Ensures accurate technical documentation or Production system and processes and coordinates/provides end-user application training as required.
  • Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of Technical Analysis, Design, Development, Testing and Acceptance phases of projects.
  • Develops unit test plans and executes testing including leading the systems and acceptance testing by facilitating participation of appropriate staff in project completion.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a senior software engineer with proven production support capability/the ability to effectively resolve high severity production issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong technical capabilities on WINDOWS platforms with experience in .NET 3.5 skills, specifically with C#, ASP.Net, WCF and WPF.
  • Ability to distinguish between requirements that are and are not valuable to the business
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • UML and Modeling tools – MS Visio and Rational Rose
  • IT Standards, Methodologies, CMM & audit requirements

Nice to Have

  • Previous exposure to various trading environment such as Equity, Options, Mutual Funds and Fixed Income Trade Flows from order to settlement is a nice to have
  • General Trading knowledge and trade attributes; general wealth management fundamentals
  • Knowledge of JIRA
