Job Description

Job Description We are seeking a Craft Supervisor that leads craft supervision , directs, manages and coordinates the production activities of Electricians, including Temp Service workers in the repair and modernization of Government , Commercial ships, barges, and small craft consistent with the shipyard business plan, and projected changes in volume. You will supervise employees who change the characteristics of material by chemical means or perform the following functions working with material: heating/cooling, bonding, laminating, plating, etching, engraving, production painting, silk screening, molding plastics, glass working, chemical processing, compounding, formulating, batching, and mixing.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensures the correct level of knowledgeable and skilled manning is maintained within the organization to support the needs of ongoing projects.
  • Responsible for the department's Schedule adherence, Budget and Quality performance with minimal rework and has an understanding of Earned Value Management techniques.
  • Reviews the performance of subordinates and takes appropriate action regarding salary increases, promotions, and disciplinary action.
  • Interviews applicants for open positions.
  • Drives ethical behavior and instills a culture of Safety, Health, and Environmental excellence.
  • Ensure assigned employees are using the most efficient methods and equipment to accomplish their work.
  • Shares responsibility of self-development with the Craft Manager.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • 4-Year Degree with 6+ years experience as a Craft Supervisor running Electrical or Temp Services within the ship repair industry; OR equivalent combination of education and 10 years' experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand Work Specifications and Standards.
  • Must have Advanced Electrical knowledge.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Switch Gear ,Power Panels, fuse boxes and all other Shipboard equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable in reading , interpreting and executing Electrical DWG’s .
  • Must be certified in Fiber optics Fabrication and testing to include Single Mode, Multimode, and ST connectors In accordance with Standard Item 009-123.
  • Must have knowledge in Interferometer testing.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and associated Scheduling Software Products.
