Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of customer-facing experience and helping grow customer technical activities.
  • Experience with one or more of: mobile platform development and technologies, mobile application development, connectivity or telecommunications technologies.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of people management experience.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (e.g. Java, C, C++, Python).
  • Experience in mobile device/platform/application development and knowledge of mobile ecosystem technologies and trends (i.e. Android).
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience managing multiple customers and streams of work.

About the job

The Android Partner Engineering team is the bridge between Google/Android software and partners who use our software to develop mobile devices. In this role, you will work in a fast-paced technology driven environment and be engaged with Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), carriers, chipset manufacturers, and original design manufacturers (ODMs) across the globe. Our aim is to ensure devices are secure and up to date and make Android the platform of choice with consumer and enterprise customers.

As a Partner Technology Manager (PTM) in Android Partner Engineering, you will be responsible for working with our global partners, introducing and deploying Android features, optimized implementations, and integrations at scale for the Android ecosystem. You will be working closely with our global partners, Engineering, Product Management, and Business Development teams to influence the future of the Android platform.

In this role, you will lead our Android Partner Feature Request program to further enhance the Android platform with features. You will lead partner activities in close collaboration with Engineering and Product Management in our better together project helping all your devices work better together. Additionally, you will lead the management of partner and regulatory requirements ensuring mainline modular system components.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance the Android Platform by bringing in feature requests from external partners, improve product feature offerings by providing partner feedback to product management, business development, and engineering.
  • Manage partner and regulatory requirements, and work with partners, engineering, and product management on the implementation, verification, and deployment of these requirements.
  • Advocate for features, and work with multiple partners on the adoption of these features.
  • Collaborate and grow better together activities with cross-functional teams, both internal and external, including product management and engineering.
  • Manage a team of technical staff to achieve strategic goals and guide career growth.
