Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• C-level experience in cloud technology, enterprise business models, distribution channels, and competitive landscape.
• Experience managing technical and globally distributed teams.
• Experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams (Product Management, Implementation, Legal, Marketing, etc.), including managers and managers of managers.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working with partners and developing relationships with Public cloud partners.
• Experience with cloud services, and platform development.
• Experience creating, executing, and delivering against competing features and driving business impact.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent complex business or technical concepts.
• Demonstrated passion for and thought leadership starting and growing engineering organizations.
• Ability to speak and write in German fluently.

About the job

The Google Cloud Engineering team is seeking an experienced executive to lead a European Sovereign Cloud Engineering team in Munich, Germany. As the Engineering Director of the European Sovereign Cloud Engineering team, you will build, grow and manage the new team, and collaborate with the Google Cloud Engineering and Product teams in the US and also with our European Sovereign Cloud partners to ensure the overall success of our Sovereign Cloud Product in Europe. You will collaborate on our roadmap and strategy, define and lead internal projects, joint projects with our partners, and Open Source contributions of the team. You will join a business in the midst of high-growth on a global scale, our market share continues to rise as customers are moving workloads to the cloud, inspire and manage a highly strategic team of experts to build and deliver the Sovereign Cloud made in Europe for Europe.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary engineering owner and leader for the European Google Sovereign Cloud Engineering team.
• Collaborate with teams across Google Cloud Platform, external partners, and customers.
• Track, understand, and interpret key customer metrics and understand the market requirements to help drive decisions to add features and build a better core product (including navigating requirements of security and compliance programs).
• Communicate best practices to partners to support the strategic priorities of Google Cloud.
• Act as a product leader in ambiguous circumstances and build followership with partners and customers.
