About this role

Job Purpose / Background

The local German Platform Oversight function (GPO) is part of the local country management team, which is reporting to the regional COO and closely connected to BlackRock’s global operations department. The successful candidate would be based in Frankfurt or Munich and will work as an analyst as part of the GPO team on ensuring high-quality delivery in relation to the oversight of internal delegations, performance of investment compliance checks as well as coordination and support of external and internal audits in accordance with German and European regulatory requirements. In addition, the team is responsible for driving project and business management initiatives critical to the stability and future development of the platform.

Key responsibilities:

Regulatory required oversight of outsourced activities (internal & external)

  • Running post trade compliance function tasks and checks as defined by German regulations on a daily basis
  • Support the outsourcing controlling processes and checks on a regular basis (monthly/quarterly)
  • Support of coordination of activities with internal and external auditors
  • Ensure all services are provided according to agreed standards (SLAs) and support in providing the oversight of internal delegations including the preparation of outsourcing risk analyses and risk and controls assessments, agreement of SLAs and KPIs, execution of periodic service review meetings and due diligence workshops
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery by the in-/outsourcing providers and act as a point of escalation for operational issues; propose and implement enhancements to service delivery and oversight to increase efficiencies and enhance the control environment.

Delivery of ad hoc and strategic projects

  • Supporting ad hoc and strategic projects focused on improving the operational effectiveness and stability of the German platform as well as the product development
  • Supporting projects within Country Management and the EEGA region in different business areas

Knowledge/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior experience in asset management, financial services or consulting is a plus, e.g., funds administration or a control function in a financial services organization or working as a consultant/auditor in the investment management industry (0-3 yrs job experience)
  • Fluency in English and German
  • Knowledge and practice of German and European regulatory requirements (KAGB, SFDR, etc.) for investment funds is a plus
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong team player and self-starter, who brings passion, dedication and energy to work every day
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse range of internal and external stakeholders across different countries, languages and cultures
  • Ability to work and collaborate within this diverse and dynamic environment and to build strong relationships and networks also remotely
  • Excellent organizational skills and process-orientation, as well as strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and deliver results within given timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Innovative, flexible and high standards for own performance as well as willingness to take on additional responsibilities quickly
  • Sound judgment, professionalism and discretion
