About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Our goal is to build a Google that looks like the world around us — and we want Googlers to stay and grow when they join us. As part of our efforts to build a Google for everyone, we build diversity, equity, and inclusion into our work and we aim to cultivate a sense of belonging throughout the company.

University Relations manages, supports, and accelerates the connection between academic research and research at Google. We create and maintain research partnerships with the external academic community through our programs, services, and expertise. Our work enables research breakthroughs by building collaborations and by developing a flourishing research ecosystem.

Our portfolio of work includes setting up collaborations with academics, supporting the next generation of researchers, building relationships with research institutions, and supporting research through conference sponsorship and Google-hosted research events.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with executive researchers to plan and execute global outreach engagements, including external research conferences and internal research workshops.
  • Manage established programs, including serving as the point of contact for engagements, proposing solutions/anticipating issues, and identifying and implementing ways to drive improvements to the University Relations team.
  • Communicate with internal and external teams and be a company-wide representative for research. Coordinate with internal teams that work with academics so we are unified externally.
  • Represent projects and our impact in meetings, evaluate data, develop recommendations, and resolve issues with review and guidance from executive program managers.
  • Identify and implement processes to help prioritize and manage academic/institutional research collaborations.
