As the Electrical Systems, Software and PSDS Validation Engineer you will be responsible for generating test plans, developing test procedures and methods, executing testing internally or with third party labs and documenting results. You will work closely with our suppliers, electrical, vehicle integration, active & passive safety, electrification, and performance engineers to develop validation and reliability test plans to support development projects, production launches and sustainment. Product validation including the evaluation of PSDS, Electrical Systems and Controls, and electrification related changes for GMD Programs.

A progressive track record with a proven ability to multi-task, collaborate and creatively develop solutions to complex problems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the development of validation plans and test scheduling for Driver Assist Systems, Electrical/Electrification systems, software and components in the GM Defense portfolio.
  • Execute test plans to validate products to all technical product and feature requirements.
  • Lead the creation of new validation and verification tests to ensure designs are of high quality based on unique applications.
  • Execute testing on time and with quality to meet product timelines.
  • Proactive and quickly address issues.
  • Work cross functionally with product engineers, technical product owners, and performance engineers to share learnings and provide input into the design.
  • Schedule products for testing in house or with third party test labs.
  • Analyze and interpret test data against pass/fail criteria
  • Document test status including both success failures
  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving activities
  • Provide technical input on a variety of creative and ambiguous projects.
  • Work to achieve compliance and balance between GM Best Practices and Government Performance Specifications (P-Specs).
  • Push the boundaries of performance and validation beyond what may be feasible for high volume production.

Additional Job Description

Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware testing and reliability
  • Experience creating and executing test plans for electrical components, software and electrification systems.
  • Familiar with Statistical Analysis capability (Weibull/ Reliability and Confidence)
  • Experience with regulatory requirements desired.
  • High level of project management skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to help
  • High level of independent judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to work comfortably and effectively with a cross functional team.
  • Action-oriented and drives for results.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle
  • This position requires either a U.S. Person (as defined in applicable export regulations) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain required export authorization(s)

Preferred:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years hardware testing and reliability experience
