Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience with Python
• Experience developing machine learning models

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience implementing and optimizing Machine Learning models
• Experience building Machine Learning infrastructure
• Experience working in open source, software evolution, and maintenance environment
• Knowledge of Open Source Technologies, Machine Learning Infrastructure, Google Infrastructure, and Performance Analysis
• Ability to analyze the performance/profiling of GPU or TPU programs

Flax is an open-source neural network library and ecosystem built on JAX. Google Research Platforms uses Flax as the recommended neural network for JAX for use in Google Brain.

As a Software Engineer, you will ensure that the Flax library and ecosystem have the necessary features and outstanding product excellence. You will contribute to the JAX and Flax efforts to create and sustain a community of users both inside Alphabet and externally.

Research happens at Google everyday, on many different embedded teams throughout the company. Our research reaches the user through both services and products such as Search, Maps, Google Assistant, Google Translate, Google Cloud and our computing, storage, and networking infrastructure. To achieve this, we’re working on a wide variety of projects that utilize the latest state-of-the-art technologies that push the boundaries of what is possible.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Flax users when they are pushing the limits of Flax, and advise them on the best JAX and Flax practices for implementing their ML projects.
• Improve the Flax library, and build other libraries for the JAX and Flax ecosystem.
• Enable internal and external contributions to the JAX and Flax ecosystem.
• Participate in maintenance and support of Flax and ecosystem libraries.
• Flatten the learning curve of Flax with approachable and searchable documentation and tutorials.
