Senior Ingredient & Formulation Scientist - Nashville, TN
The Dry Global Innovation Centre (Dry GIC) team plays a key role in contributing to the delivery of our Pet Nutrition growth sufficiency ambition. This is achieved through the delivery of main meal innovation projects across our different global portfolio boards & brands including Pedigree, Whiskas, Iams, Nutro & Crave deployed across different markets and regions.
The scope of these projects varies in the levels of complexity but typically encompasses innovation which covers ingredients, processes, packaging & product designs
The associate in this role will be expected to contribute in the development of winning ingredients and product propositions based on pets, pet parent insights and new ingredients technology including sustainability aspects. They will work closely with Ingredients Suppliers, Commercial & Supply partners in lead markets as well as with the other R&D teams across Dry GIC to deliver projects which are technically robust.
What would be your key responsibilities?
- Systematically identify new ideas and opportunities to unlock variety of ingredients proposition to allow business growth globally and ensuring effective communication and engagements of key stakeholders.
- Initiates and manages a variety of Ingredient science activities, including developing project proposals, research planning, design of experiments, method development, conducting and leading experiments from laboratory to prototype kitchen and pilot scale, analysis and discussion of results applying rigorous scientific and statistical methods, etc.
- Implements improvement of global brands product performance through advances in Palatability, Stability, Digestibility, Nutritional Quality, Sustainability, and optimal ingredient interactions and provide training and support on those validated ingredients propositions.
- Build and maintain internal and external networks to ensure up to date understanding of cutting-edge developments in ingredients.
- Participates in the advancement of formulation efficiency and standardization projects.
What are we looking for?
- Degree in biological / life / food sciences / nutrition or equivalent. Preferably a Master’s degree or higher.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in research and development and/or technical role in the field of raw materials in a business environment and/or recipe formulation.
- Broad understanding of the Food, Feed or Phamaceutical industries, consumer trends and scientific innovations
- Knowledge in feed or food formulation and nutritional content of raw materials.
- Understanding of Petfood or Food consumers, market opportunities, recipes, raw materials and processes constraints.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural teams and with people coming from different discipline and business areas.
- Ability to communicate and transfer knowledge to others in various forms.
