Job Description

The gameplay networking team ensures that emergent online experiences feel exciting and responsive between players across the world. Physically simulated environments are a core pillar of Roblox, and making these simulations interact in multiplayer environments is no simple task.

You will make interactions between friends and foes alike as immersive and responsive as possible. Your work will provide visible improvements to millions of players across thousands of Roblox experiences, and even pave the way for new content previously impossible on the platform!

You Are:

• Amazing at systems-level C++ programming ( 6+ years of experience ): Fascinated by the actual work the CPU does when you use smart pointers, templates, virtual functions, and blocks of memory, both structured and raw.
• Knowledgeable about network protocols:Experience with the tradeoffs necessary to network complicated physics simulation and gameplay scenarios over the internet while maintaining responsiveness.
• Keen to understand each millisecond of the network exchanges: You know where the time goes and how to reduce the waste
• Multi-platform: You understand, across all platforms, what happens on the hardware-level when certain code is performed.
• Ready for a challenge: You are eager to tackle multiplayer networking problems in the world.

You Will:

• You will develop network communication code that creates a smooth and real-time experience for Roblox players worldwide.
• You will work on bleeding-edge technology for loading a variety of worlds on the fly to many different devices, from high-end PCs to low-end mobile devices.
• You will unlock new content capabilities by working on latency compensation, time-skewed simulation capabilities, and other multiplayer interaction features.
• You will work on real-time game networking, such as networked shooters, and RTS or MMO games.
• You will report to the Engineering Manager, Spatial Networking
