Our Developers are innovative self-starters that can communicate and work together. They are driven and adaptable, creative problem solvers that make a real impact at Akuna. Our Developers work closely in a team-based approach with our trading and quant teams to design and implement elegant solutions to complex and interesting problems. We believe that teamwork is vital for success in this industry.

They use cutting-edge technology while working on high performance/low latency systems. Projects include such things as; creating trading infrastructure, algorithms, exchange gateways, performance engineering, hardware, data capture and analysis, or front-end user interfaces. Graduate start dates: January 2023 & August 2023

Internship dates: Dec 2022/Jan 2023- February 2023 (7-10 weeks)

Training: Junior & intern Developers are placed in a small team with mentors (and a buddy), where you’ll begin with simple projects to help you get comfortable and familiarise yourself with our systems. As you build up experience and demonstrate your ability, we gradually increase the complexity of the projects and give you greater responsibility. You’ll have an experienced Developer overseeing your work and on hand for any questions you may have.

Specialty

Within the Development team we hire juniors who have interests in the below four areas-

C++: Our C++ team collaborate with our trading and software teams on applications that have critical, low latency processes and where C++ is used for the computational heavy lifting.

Python: Our Python team works closely with quant, development, and trading teams on application development, crypto-exchange connectivity as well as rebuilding our existing systems to make them more flexible and scalable.

C# User Interface: Our UI team fine tune our existing systems and work towards developing our next-gen UI solutions. The team uses C# to create multithreaded user interfaces which handle high volumes of data and provide traders with a real-time view of the markets.

Web Development: Our Web team write Python-powered back-ends and dynamic JavaScript frontends to create robust, real-time applications. They improve existing visualization tools and develop new and innovative ways of displaying key accurate information to traders, to help them manage volatility, assess risk, and fine-tune the parameters of our systems.

Requirements:

• Australian, NZ citizen, or Australian Permanent resident
  • VISA: If you are a visa holder, you need full working rights that lead to PR, such as the Graduate Work Visa 485. Akuna does not offer sponsorship for this position
• University Degree
  • Graduates: graduating before August 2023 and within the last 3 years
  • Interns: graduating between December 2023 & August 2024
• Ability to code in your chosen language: Python, C++, C#, or Java
• Passion for innovation and building systems from the ground up
• Analytical problem-solving and adaptability
• Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to obtain requirements and find solutions

Recommended Qualifications:

• Bachelor, Honours, Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degrees
• Distinction Average or proven strong academics
