We welcome you to join Philips Image Guided Therapy Devices (IGT-D) business as a Director, Thought Leader Coronary Vascular (CV) and Structural Heart Disease (SHD) in our San Diego, CA, Plymouth, MN or Cambridge, MA locations.

As the Head of Thought Leader Engagement, Image Guided Therapy Devices, you will have the following responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • Design and Implement a World Class Global Key Thought Leader (KTL) engagement strategy for the Coronary (CV) and Structural Heart Disease (SHD) businesses within IGT Devices
  • Lead global IGTD KOL efforts to support business needs
  • Weave together value propositions of IGTD and the needs of IGTS (IGT Systems), where applicable with an eye towards common KTL engagement
  • Advocate for the Philips brand with physician, administrative and policy making customers and stakeholders to build credibility and engagement
  • Orchestrate Philips business need with the appropriate KTL/Medical Advisory Board (MAB) members (50)
  • Partner with business leaders to engage key thought leaders in business strategy
  • Select proper KTLs based on specific projects, with eye towards desired outcome
  • Represent all Philips functions to the KTL to present a unified front
  • Manage the KTL relationship towards total Philips engagements so as to not overwhelm the KTL with too many Philips touches and activities

Medical/Clinical Expertise

  • Serve as clinical/medical expert and provide insights and thought leadership across IGT-Device businesses with a focus on the CV and SHD businesses
  • Accompany business leaders to strategic customer meetings for clinical/medical insights
  • Serve as strategic resource and thought partner to clinical and commercial teams
  • Provide clinical and medical insights, expertise and direct support during the business development process
  • Provide high level clinical support to product development teams, including viability of products, insights on clinical relevance and safety, as well as Advisory Board leadership to secure necessary voice of customer
  • Engage and lead various clinical engagement activities to help the organization better understand customer needs

Key Opinion Leader Engagement

  • Lead and manage the IGTD CV and SHD advisory boards, and all relevant permutations
  • Partner with the IGT KTL leaders for NA and International as well as the IGTD PV/HRM KTL leader to share and align to best practices as relevant
  • Partner closely with key stakeholders including the leaders of the major markets, the Solutions and HRM businesses, R&D, Clinical and Education
  • Provide Advisory Board thought leadership for specific objectives, agenda, execution topics as relevant
  • Recruit, vet, and engage key thought leaders to support clinical and business activities
  • Act as specialty society liaison, supporting meeting goals and driving market access through guidelines
  • Bridge the conversation between Societal/Trade Show requests with the affiliated KOL
  • Lead and facilitate customer engagement at the San Diego site, including but not limited to Customer Site Visits, and Live Case Broadcast series as relevant

KTL Segmentation

  • Design and lead KTL stratification into the following buckets: Clinical (studies, podium presentations, publications); Societies, R&D (product advisory boards), Education (Fellows, Medical Education, Sales Training), MAB (physicians, administrators), Policy and Advocacy, Investor Relations

Leadership Expectations:

  • Leadership: As a key leader in the Category Leadership Teams, the role requires an effective strategist, collaborator and driver of results. The role requires significant interaction with key stakeholders and leaders throughout the organization – a strong relationship builder is a must. This role helps to ensure the IGT-D business strategy is appropriately reflected in the objectives and supports execution
  • Strategic Insight: The role is highly focused on providing clinical insights and ensuring clinical relevance of the business and product development strategy. The individual ensures feedback from thought leaders drives the appropriate activities required to drive market access, including technology development, clinical evidence, education and guidelines
  • Communication: The role is a key communicator of information to the IGT-D leadership teams, as well as cross-functional partners (sales, R&D, marketing, legal, regulatory, quality, etc). The role is also a key communicator to external stakeholders – clinicians, hospital administrators, societies, etc. These responsibilities include escalation of critical project challenges / mitigations. The role is the escalation point for issues encountered with key thought leaders and is often called upon to intervene and provide leadership in challenging situations

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in marketing, business, biological/clinical science, or engineering,
  • 9+ years in the area of Coronary Vascular and Structural Heart preferably
  • Global experience – a plus
  • Ability to influence others; excellent interpersonal skills to be effective in a matrix organization and with customers
  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills
  • Strong team player and mature personality that works effectively on cross-functional teams, with medical and non-medical professionals at all levels and in an international environment
  • Understanding of the peripheral vascular and heart rhythm management space and established KOL relationships in these areas
  • Willingness to Recommend score improvement
  • Strong regular engagement with KOLs
  • Successful R&D projects and inorganic decisions based on engaging the correct physicians
  • Successful podium and publication execution
