Collins Aerospace is looking for a Project Manager/Project Engineer to join our mechanical systems business unit. This position will support the Director of Engineering Technology with the Mechanical Systems R&D/Technology portfolio

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with project management of the Mechanical Systems R&D/Technology portfolio.
  • Responsible for R&D/Technology portfolio budgets and monthly financial reporting.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and information and recommended next steps
  • Supports all the Mechanical systems sites (including GEC-India and Poland) and Collins Aerospace to identify opportunities and to establish budgets, resources and projects to develop new technology.
  • Responsible for internal and external customer-facing technology communication including strategic planning.
  • Forecasts project revenues, monitors costs and re-estimates project costs on a monthly basis to maximize project profitability and ensure business targets are met
  • Analyzes data gathered and develops solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency of work
  • Maintains and presents plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are met.
  • Responsible for all workforce planning activities within Mechanical Systems engineering including Staffing Requirements, Use of GETCs and shared services approaches, Critical Skills development, and technical training.
  • Responsible for Mechanical Systems long term engineering strategy including development of goals and objectives, strategic financial planning oversight, and program management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to act strategically and tactically to support successful project completion
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and present to various levels within the organization
  • Superior interpersonal and influencing skills, including coaching and mentoring of other engineering staff.
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience in agile project management field
