Job Responsibilities

The Global Broadband Operations team provides tools and services that are used broadly by DevOps teams across the company with the aim of improving customer experience at scale as we go global. Our team builds tools and technology that enable Viasat to operate as a global organization and provide the world’s fastest satellite internet service. We empower fellow engineers with state of the art tools and ensure we are utilizing the latest techniques and technology to make the lives of our fellow engineers, and therefore customers, better. We collaborate with teams all across Viasat to identify problems and find effective solutions. The work done by our team acts as a force multiplier enabling teams all across the organization to accomplish more than they could on their own.

As a member of our team you will be expected to work with your fellow team members and external collaborators to identify problems and understand their scope and complexities. You will then work to design effective and maintainable solutions that you will build and deploy with your fellow engineers. Team members are expected to be full stack developers with an eye for good engineering principles. They should be focused on continuously questioning and improving the way software in developed at Viasat. Our ideal candidate is a strong developer who can grasp difficult problems. They should be willing to speak their mind and explore available solutions. A perfect candidate for this role is someone that can express these ideas to the team and not only contribute to, but lead, discussions on how we can improve. Our ideal candidate has full stack development knowledge. Has worked with AWS infrastructure and web application development. Understands CI/CD and employees good software testing principles. Excellent communication skills and works well with a tight knit team.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with software development, debugging or troubleshooting
• Experience using python
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to commit to a 10-12 week summer internship
