Job Description

Eaton Corporation’s North America Electrical Sales Division has an immediate opening for a Field Applications Engineer, located in the Northeast Region of the United States. This position can be based remotely in Hartford CT, Albany NY or our Boston MA regions. Relocation will be provided if needed.

Position Overview:

The primary function of the Utility Application Engineer is to achieve acceptability of Eaton’s Cooper Power Systems products in the Utility Distribution and Substation marketplace, while providing technical leadership to sales engineers, Manufacturer’s reps, and external customers. This position will be familiar with competitive product offerings and be able to position Eaton products to best compete against competitive products.

The primary functions include the following: Pre-sale application and technical support to meet customer’s needs by providing directions, solutions, and recommendations; product value proposition and product line strategies; provide feedback on product development to the product line; provide feedback to product marketing and engineering regarding market needs and competitive product offering.

In this role you will:

  • Call on electrical engineers & project managers supporting Utility Distribution and Substation projects, as well as EPC’s to assist with technical design and position Eaton related products in a preferred position
  • Conduct product seminars and training on Eaton products and solutions to end users, consultants and sales engineers
  • Assist customers with design build opportunities.
  • Assist with technical support for project quotations
  • Assist with customer factory visits, inspections, and witness tests

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of electrical sales and/or electrical engineering experience
  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Experience with Utility Distribution and substation application
  • Value selling experience
  • Technical knowledge regarding the application of Power Distribution products
  • Proficient on some or all of the following: Overhead and Underground Switchgear, Voltage Regulators, Capacitors, Network Protectors, Transformers and Line insulation products

Position Criteria

  • Ability to write technical specifications for new projects
  • Ability to assist with trouble shooting of supported products
  • Skillful at leading teams, consensus building, and mentoring
  • Initiative and self-management skills
  • Presentation and training skills
  • Possess knowledge of products, markets channels and associated applications
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $101,360– $139,370.

Eligible for an annual performance-based plan with a target at 25% of base salary.
