Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Experience in Program Management with technical cross-functional projects.
• Experience in security, privacy, and/or compliance.
• Experience in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Experience with programming languages (e.g. Java).

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in privacy with one or more of the following privacy principles or technologies: privacy by design, user data protection, GDPR, data inventory, DLP, Encryption, anonymization or privacy impact assessments.
• Experience with security in one or more of the following: threat modeling, incident/emergency response, OS hardening, vulnerability management, penetration testing, or cryptographic concepts.
• Experience with common industry standards (safety, compliance, ISO, etc.).
• Expertise in designing and analyzing large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.

About the job

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

As the Chief Information and Security Officer, you will lead our security, privacy, and compliance efforts, set the roadmap for the Waze technology organization, and establish a strategy for realizing the vision. One of your goals will be to enable Engineering teams by providing them the tools, knowledge, and practices they need in order to act securely, but without adding friction to their work. You’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale.

Responsibilities

• Perform architecture security and privacy reviews to projects across the company.
• Participate in security code reviews, perform/coordinate security testing against products prior to their deployment.
• Understand how data and transactions are collected, stored, processed, and shared, and communicate guidance from users, policy-makers, and legal into concrete engineering principles.
• Support engineering with implementing security fixes, ensuring security scanners are utilized correctly, and develop strategies to proactively secure their architecture.
• Create threat models for Waze products and leverage them to prioritize high risk projects.
