The Integrated Mission Systems Engineering organization within Collins Aerospace is poised to capture major market positions in the growing Strategic Command, Control, and Communication (C3) business space. We are looking for top talent, industry experienced, Systems engineers to drive future System of Systems solutions for Collins Aerospace.

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Digital Engineering Lead - Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Richardson, TX, and will be part of the Integrated Mission Platform Systems department. This position requires expertise in the DoD-based Airborne Mission Systems platforms. This role may also periodically lead, or mentor junior team members, execute trade studies, develop prototypes, create metrics, and prepare and present technical information to an audience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical solutions to meet Digital Engineering needs for Systems Engineering including interfaces with other disciplines
  • Identify gaps, develop and validate solutions to enable digital engineering and digital thread principles to mature existing solutions
  • Communicate solutions through models and other end-user documentation
  • Collaborate with other partner teams (toolchain, tools teams, deployment) to coordinate and optimize solutions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements development and management
  • Familiarity with Cameo and SysML modeling
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps
  • Experience with Build Automation and Test Automation
  • Familiarity with model-based system-level test planning, execution, and management
  • Familiarity with digital engineering principles and methods
  • Proficiency working in the agile approach
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts both up and down the management chain
  • Work independently, with minimal supervision, and ensure project goals are met
  • Experience in technical leadership and mentoring team members
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an active US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with system performance modeling tools
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical modeling tools
  • Familiarity with digital twin concepts
  • Experience in integrating COTS solutions
  • Experience with bidding and EV management
  • Active US DoD Top Secret Clearance
