Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in accounting.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Japanese fluently.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or equivalent certification or degree.
  • Experience with managing regulatory and compliance requirements for regulated entities in Japan.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP and proficiency in SQL programming.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and to lead complex operational initiatives with business partners.
  • Ability to manage a varied and diverse workload, while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and a high-degree of attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous process improvement.
  • Team player who is results-driven with leadership, communication, and negotiating skills.

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. As a Senior Accountant, you will partner closely with cross-functional and cross-finance stakeholders. In this role, you will drive cross-finance collaboration to support both finance as well as business-led initiatives, and implement and continually look to improve existing processes.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own and account for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of financial reporting and processes related to Controllership for your area (e.g., month-end close, year-end statutory financial processes, profit and loss and B/S analytics, tax compliance, and financial accounting).
  • Prepare and present financial information to different audiences, including finance leaders, business partners, auditors, and regional accountants.
  • Participate in cross-finance readiness for product initiatives in APAC, providing jurisdictional expertise and partner with key stakeholders for successful implementation/launch.
  • Articulate risks of your area to management and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain an effective internal control environment, including ensuring accuracy of financial accounts.
