The Test Process Engineer is responsible for the design of test equipment, instrumentation and processes. The Test Process Engineer utilizes Continuous Improvement principles to reduce testing lead time and improve quality. The Test Process Engineer responds to work stoppages and implements permanent and timely solutions to meet the test schedule. The Test Process Engineer ensures safe and reliable operation of test equipment and fixtures. The Test Process Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Engineering and Facilities Manager, who works on the Operations team under the Operations Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write Test Procedures, Standards, and Operation Manuals.
  • Create 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings of tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine testing requirements.
  • Lead kaizen events in various work cells to identify and eliminate waste.
  • Design and implement test setups, instrumentation and firing systems.
  • Create equipment specifications, scopes of work, and validation plans.
  • Analyze project cost/benefit and write cost justification for management review.
  • Plan and execute tasks using project management tools.
  • Train direct labor employees on testing processes and equipment.
  • Specify, procure and maintain instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Frequently works in excess of 40 hrs. per week
  • Frequently operates tools and equipment
  • Will be permanently located in a shop floor environment
  • Must be able to infrequently lift 35 lbs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
  • In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
  • 3-5 years of developing pyrotechnic test processes required
  • 3-5 years of participating in PSM and Process Hazard Analysis
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as excellent communication skills, verbal and written to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Self-motivated and the ability to grasp concepts quickly
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently to meet project requirements with minimal supervision
  • Strong 3D CAD modeling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and validate new test processes and equipment
