Job Description
TITLE: Operations Manager, Distribution
REPORTS TO: Director, Distribution and Transportation
SUPERVISES: Maintenance & Facilities Teams/Cost of Failure Team Members
The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and directing the Brimfield Distribution Department with regard to maintenance in all facets and the fleet operations and building. The Operations Manager will coordinate personnel, equipment and resources to optimize operational productivity while managing safety, service, employee relations and quality standards. Requires extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving and the ability to communicate clearly and secure the cooperation of others. Responsible to make decisions and represent company policy on disputed issues. Continually strive to reduce costs and eliminate waste. Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization’s success. Some irregular hours will be required.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project management regarding fleet and building maintenance
- Staffing management
- Employee scheduling
- Maintenance personnel career pathing
- Coordinate the completion of any work related safety suggestions and safety programs
- Department utilization
- Driver Productivity
- Assist with creation of Strategic Development Plan for Drivers and all Maintenance Staffing
- Coordinate facilities maintenance for local distribution centers (Brimfield and 3009)
- Provide leadership & guidance to the Maintenance and Fleet departments.
- Develop & implement sustainable PM programs for all equipment used within the facilities
- Prioritizes daily issues and assigns appropriate resources for resolution.
- Participation in teams with associates such as improvement, kaizen and/or safety teams
- Supports all other departmental objectives through teamwork and collaboration.
- HR duties related to employee issues, engagement, performance feedback and corrective actions
- Interviewing process to ensure staffing levels are meet for objectives and needs with the facilities
- Ability to handle multiple distribution facilities
- Attend all required training courses for safety or other applications
- Some travel for business DC related corporate functions
- Site Resource for all Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance
- Resource for Corporate Safety on DOT compliance
- Manage the JJ Keller Program for our site
- Facilities Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, Fleet Drivers, Yard Drivers and Fleet Mechanics
- Coordinate the Cost of Failure Activities for the Ohio and Indiana Locations
- Work with the Shared Services Team on the prenotification and overall processing/challenging/reconciling of customer disputes
- Communicate and coordinate all internal communications with regard to customer compliance and customer requirements – as practice and cost of doing business
- Provide analytics around decisions to ship or hold customer orders related to compliance issues and the profitability of shipping
- Analyze customer vendor buying agreements with the Sales Planning Teams for overall impact to the DC operations
- Implement new process “flows” for the customer chargeback process and reporting trends to appropriate internal parties
- Coordination with other internal Cost of Failure teams/members on accomplishments or united front approach for the Food & Commercial Division
- Other duties as designated.
Education/Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of Supervisory experience
- Successful Project Management
- 3+ years working in a Distribution environment, preferably in a leadership role
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
- Must be innovative and open to new concepts / ideas to improve organizational objectives.
- Highly organized and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Experience with MS Office software skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access (basic), and Outlook.
- Proficient knowledge of Workforce
- Proficient knowledge of PkMS and SAP
- Proficient knowledge of the OnBase and Claims Processing Systems
- Proficient knowledge of the Power BI tool
