The Director, Talent Development Partner manages and supports Talent & Development solutions for Santander’s human capital. This role will oversee Santander’s core talent initiatives and activities, including annual performance cycle, goal setting, talent review and succession planning activities, employee engagement surveys, nomination-based talent programs, internal mobility, etc. This incumbent must collaborate and consulate with HRBPs and business stakeholders to identify talent needs and desired outcomes, provide recommendations for talent and development solutions/training and support the design and delivery of change management programs required by the business.

Role Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of the annual Talent Management cycle for various LOBs. (Performance, Goal Setting, Talent/Succession planning, Engagement, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary liaison between HRBPS, internal stakeholders, and the Talent & Development team to evaluate talent development solutions.
  • Conduct intake and client needs assessments development activities that will build employees’ skills in line with the business strategy and acts as project manager of the development solution through implementation (excludes new hires/role based continuing education).
  • Participate in the development objectives for the LOB requests in partnership with the Instructional Designer or New Hire PM for applicable training solutions.
  • Partner with HRBP to consult and recommend targeted talent and organizational development programs to LOB as needed, e.g., 360 surveys, team building, coaching, professional training.
  • Assist in facilitation around talent data collection activities (e.g., performance/9-box discussions).
  • Facilitate the design and implementation of client-requested custom surveys and focus groups to investigate talent-related issues in greater detail (e.g., employee engagement, training, and development, etc.).
  • Partner with leaders to create succession planning strategies and implement programs to grow leadership talent and improve the organization’s succession and bench strength.
  • Help build out workforce plans to solve for future workforce needs, as a well as succession plans for critical roles and individuals across the business.
  • Facilitate the identification, development, and management of high potential talent for businesses you support.
  • Help to develop employee engagement strategies for assigned business areas.
  • Provide stakeholders with relevant data and analysis to determine the effectiveness of development and talent programs on achieving business outcomes.
  • In partnership with the DE&I team, ensure a diverse and inclusive approach to talent and leadership development.

Key Stakeholder Relationships

  • Strong partnership required with HRBPs and senior leaders across various entities (SBNA, SHUSA, SC, etc./LOBs.
  • Partner closely with Learning Instructional Design team or New Hire PM for applicable training solutions.
  • Partner with Talent Operations to ensure up to date on HR calendar/cycle.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 9-12 years of experience in financial services organization, preferably banking.
  • Expertise in the talent and development industry preferably in a large, fast-paced, complex, global company leading change, delivering successful client engagement, and achieving results.
  • Exceptional multi-tasker with a passion for talent strategy development solutions.
  • Ability to understand business challenges and opportunities and see how they link to talent development needs.
  • Problem-solver who thinks fast and adapts quickly to change and is happy to be "hands-on" in all aspects of our team's work.
  • Client-service oriented with outstanding critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of partnering and building relationships with Senior leaders (L2/L3)
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills
  • Project management skills required
  • Use insights gathered from data and statistics on employees to make decisions regarding talent management.
  • Ability to bridge gap and connect talent management and development solutions.
