PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Assessment of Creative Requests and formulation of initial responses and design proposals
•Development and presentation of concept direction options for projects including material and construction detailing.
•Presentation of selected designs, detail specification to manufacturers of approved designs, liaison with engineers and manufacturers on development of prototypes, sample approval.
•Some supervision and directing of freelance designers and junior members when applicable.
•Effective time management, handling multiple projects effectively and within specified deadlines.
•Clear understanding of the essential requirements of each project, fast and effective development of multiple options in response to design briefs.
•Resolution of aesthetic and technical challenges, fine detailing of designs, management of close working relationships with other M.A.C and corporate teams and with external vendors.
•Proposals to be presented in outline [with construction and detailing indicated] to ED of Visual Merchandising
•The Senior Designer will take responsibility for final detailing and specification of approved designs and for development of successful prototypes and final product.
•Maintain awareness of current trends in visual arts and merchandising, travel as necessary, and complete in-store site visits to observe counters in action and/or approve production, research trends and materials.
•Communicate with global teams (Mktg, PM, CM, etc) & store design to understand store fixtures in retail environment to ensure merchandising solutions result in a cohesive brand message and positive MAC experience for all customers at counter.
•Design, package and distribute graphics (final artwork production files) as needed and under strict deadlines
•Demonstrate an understanding of materials, cost, and time requirements on projects.
Budget Responsibility
•Responsibility for ensuring that each of their design projects is developed within specified budget .
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
•3-4 years in experience in merchandising, visual display, styling, events or related areas - preferably luxury beauty brands
•Beauty experience is REQUIRED
•Experience with visual merchandising design, including tester displays and gondola designs
•Experience working in a fast-paced, high pressure, creative environment.
•Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Rhino, Keyshot
•Demonstrated ability to multi-task with agility
•Must be a self-starter, flexible and imaginative with an understanding of 3D design
•Can take direction, work independently and collaboratively
•Knowledge of retail trends, brick and mortar, and Specialty Multi environments
•High level of technical drawing
•Very strong ability to successfully manage and cultivate working relationships and collaborate with colleagues and external partners
•Strong emphasis on physical modelmaking for both design development and presentation
•Excellent creative skills and ability to initiate and quickly and clearly communicate design concepts
