MANAGER, ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

The finance and accounting department here at SpaceX is a fast-paced group that is responsible for all of our financial matters. The Accounts Payable team is responsible for processing and issuing all vendor disbursements in a timely manner. We’re looking for a Manager, Accounts Payable to lead the team and oversee all AP operations with the goal of driving efficiencies in the overall disbursement process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems to automate and improve efficiency related to the AP disbursement process, including coordinating with our application software team on ERP enhancements
  • Supervise a team of up to seven accounts payable specialists including training and development, task delegation, and performance management
  • Ensure adherence to proper AP accounting methods, policies, and principles
  • Ensure all invoices are paid within terms, which requires collaboration with cross-functional departments to confirm proper three-way match and timely release of payment
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze numerous metrics to track operational productivity and AP aging
  • Manage vendor relations and be the main point of contact for any escalated vendor issues

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • 8+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounting, or finance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous experience as a supervisor/manager
  • Experience with OCR, Docushare, electronic invoicing, and other automation technologies
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proven leadership on process and system improvement projects
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or other ERP systems
  • Strong understanding of general accounting and internal controls related to accounts payable
