Job Description
What is the opportunity?
This is a 12 month maternity cover opportunity where the successful candidate will have supervisory oversight of 2 team members.
Enterprise Risk Management UK (ERM) is a part of Group Risk Management and is responsible for defining and implementing an effective risk framework and governance structure across RBC’s European operations, in particular for RBC’s main subsidiary RBC Europe Limited (RBCEL) and RBC London Branch. The incumbent will work closely on a variety of tasks in conjunction with the UK ERM Team, and with Senior Risk Managers and Executives in the region.
- End to end responsibility for various ICAAPs and developing / implementing internal capital methodologies (across different UK and European entities)
- Designing Macroeconomic Stress Testing and Reverse Stress Testing methodologies
- Designing and supporting Management Information for senior executives in particular for Credit Risk
- Preparing recommendations for Risk Appetite Statements and regular monitoring of the same
- Preparing Recovery Plans for RBCEL
- Making sure RBCEL and London Branch comply with all applicable Risk Frameworks and Policies
- Making sure there is broad consistency of approaches for the key European legal entities (RBCEL and RBC IS Bank) and acting as subject matter experts in the region for all relevant matters.
What will you do?
RBCEL ICAAP
- Accountability for developing a sustainable plan for key initiatives such as RBCEL ICAAP and agreeing with senior management ensuring quality and timeliness are achieved.
- Providing updates on status and developments to Management Committees such as ERM Management Committee and act as delegate for the Head of ERM UK at ALCO and the Financial Crisis Management Committee.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on key prudential regulations across both UK and European jurisdictions as required.
- Upholding a minimum defined standard and ensuring consistency of approaches, wherever appropriate, bearing in mind local and regulatory variations.
- Improvement of economic and regulatory capital methodologies leveraging RBC standards and capabilities where possible.
- Act as subject matter experts for development and improvement of stress testing and reverse stress testing methodologies, scenarios and facilitation of scenario workshops with the Business and relevant key stakeholders.
- Staying abreast of evolving local regulatory capital standards to ensure the impact is understood and implemented as necessary.
Risk Identification
- Running the annual Risk Identification refresh for RBCEL and other legal entities as required.
- Setting up and running the annual Risk Identification process for RBCCI.
Risk Reporting, Risk Appetite and Risk Frameworks
- Risk Reports – assisting with and reviewing monthly / quarterly Risk Reports to ensure Risk Appetite of the respective entities are maintained.
- Recommend annual updates to the Risk Appetite and Reports to maintain relevance with the business model and key and emerging risks including new recommending new Board limits.
- Designing and supporting management information for senior executives.
Reporting
- Oversee monthly reporting for certain monthly risk reporting deliverables (e.g. ALCO EC, Credit Risk Database, UKLRMC information).
Regulatory Compliance / Other
- Regulatory Compliance - ensuring existing and new regulatory requirements for ICAAP are demonstrably complied with.
- Assistance with entity level or Platform level initiatives. This includes keeping abreast of Risk identification for RBCEL and linkage back to the ICAAP.
Change Management/Methodology/Residual Risk
- Change Management – simplifying processes and initiatives where applicable.
- Methodology – make certain methodologies are assessed with a view to ensuring completeness.
People Management/Team Effectiveness/Technical and Professional Skills
- Delegate and provide oversight to two team members as necessary and providing leadership to others within the UK team.
- Manage Internal Stakeholder relationships.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- An experienced Risk and Regulatory professional, with a strong understanding of UK / European Regulations and with experience of the Regulatory SREP process
- Strong negotiating, influencing, oral and written communication
- Good understanding of Capital Management and ICAAP
- Understanding of Economic Capital methodologies
- Good experience of Basel III and CRDIV.
