Job Description


The Global Manager, Brand Marketing is an important member of the “Global Brand Marketing” leadership team, the group responsible for inspiring and guiding global brand marketing through thought leadership, knowledge sharing, capability building and scaled opportunities. As a locally driven, global organization, our team influences and creates policy and guidance for the markets – who are then responsible for developing and creating marketing efforts.

This person will be instrumental in helping us achieve our ambition of becoming the best marketing company on the planet. Specifically, the focus on this role is helping create a global marketing community (agency and client) that shares and scales best practices across borders. This involves carrying out and enhancing existing plan elements such as the Feel-Good Marketing Awards, Creative Reviews, Creative Share Outs, Creative Council - as well as inventing new ones:

  • Best Practice Sharing and Spotlights: In the more immediate term, a large portion of the role will be in setting up and implementing an accelerated plan to share and celebrate best in class work with the system.
  • Internal Creative Awards: Responsible for project management for the significant, large-scale “events” the global marketing strategy team hosts, including Creative Excellence Workshops and The Feel-Good Marketing Conference.
  • Working with internal and external partners to plan, coordinate and implement best in class digital and in-person events (when global travel and large gatherings are safely able to resume).
  • Workshops and Capability Building: Support and facilitate Creative Excellence Workshops (digital as well as in person) with a particular focus on “being better clients” in 2022.
  • To work with McDonald’s global agency partners to develop best practice relationships and help support markets in doing the same.
  • From time-to-time, special project work/support for other parts of the marketing organization may also be needed.
  • Lead budget management and subscriptions for the team.
  • Work in parallel with a team charged with other elements of the Creative Effectiveness Program, including the director Brand Strategy.
  • Creative problem solver and visual/verbal storyteller who possesses strong strategic and creative expertise working on world class brands and marketing campaigns.
  • Proven ability to influence and inspire agency teams as well as the ability to work independently to develop and complete high-profile internal programs and events (such as the Feel-Good Marketing Awards).

More specifically:

  • Proven experience in integrated marketing communications role - can include experience with another client or role in an advertising/content agency
  • Experience of working with creative agencies and good understanding of their processes.
  • Proven experience in developing marketing campaigns and creative across channels
  • Experience in creative development, project leadership, international exposure, and leading through influencing
  • Excellent oral, written and overall communications skills (including presentation and storytelling skills)
  • Skilled at working in a global / multi-market capacity
  • Intellectual Curiosity & Problem-Solving – intelligent and agile; comfortable with concepts and complexity; able to think independently; enjoys writing and can tell a motivating story; experience gathering, analyzing, and blending information from different sources and building these into persuasive documents and presentations
  • Strong work ethic who is a self-starter, shows passion, energy and enthusiasm for the journey ahead at McDonald’s
  • Global approach - working within and chipping into a globally understood picture of priorities and keeping global audiences and impacts for the business and external environment front of mind.
  • Ability to Influence, both externally and internally
  • Strong collaboration orientation - works easily with big, multi-disciplinary teams and understands the importance of integration
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
