Senior Test Engineer, Mainframe Systems

Imperva, the leader in Data Security, is looking to hire a motivated and self-directed Senior Test Engineer to join our mainframe team based in Austin, TX.
As a Senior Test Engineer at Imperva, you will design, implement, run, and maintain testing suites for Imperva’s z/OS mainframe security products. You will apply your knowledge of software testing and z/OS to enhance the quality of Imperva’s software products. You will participate in the product lifecycle to incorporate quality and testing from an early stage. Testing may be a combination of pure z/OS tests and complete end to end tests using the Imperva SecureSphere platform.

Candidates must be familiar with standard software testing and quality processes, methodologies, and tools.

Responsibilities

• Build individual tests and test suites for z/OS security products
• Update tests for new features, new platforms, and other product changes
• Assist in customer problem diagnosis when required to duplicate customer scenarios
• Document test results and communicate clearly to the development team
• Use Jira to defects and enhancements
• Design and develop automated tests to create repeatable tests with minimal interaction
• Actively participate in feature design reviews with the development team
• Accurately estimate assignments and elapsed time required for testing
• Participate as required in the release planning process with architects, developers, and product management
• Work independently and in a team environment with local and international teams
• Review and markup product documentation

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years’ experience in software testing in z/OS mainframe environments
• 6+ years’ experience as a programmer or database administrator
• Knowledgeable in setting up test environments
• Broad experience with z/OS JCL and utility programs
• Working knowledge of Db2 for z/OS, IMS, or CICS
• Automation experience with Jenkins or other automation products
• Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of networks and non-mainframe platforms such as Linux a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering
