Verisk Life, Health & Travel (LHT), a Verisk Analytics company, has almost 20 years’ experience of providing risk rating tools to the insurance market. LHT provides medical and veterinary underwriting software to insurance providers that enables the rating of pre-existing medical conditions to allow informed underwriting decisions to be made on travel, pet and other health related insurance products. Clients range from multinational and specialist insurers to insurance brokers and aggregators.
The role will be based in LHT’s office in Brisbane, Queensland While the role is office based, the Application Support Engineer may be required to travel occasionally to meet with clients and this could include travel outside of Australia.
Given LHT clients are in different time zones there may be a requirement to work outside of general working hours(8:30 AM-5 PM).
This position will report to the Managing Director, Asia Pacific based in Brisbane, Australia in addition to a dotted reporting line to the Engineering lead based in Malaga, Spain.
Main purpose of the job including responsibilities:
The Application Support Engineer will be responsible to support LHT’s medical underwriting tools and other applications that run in a Windows environment for the LHT business. The individual will be working closely with other Engineers based in Spain and China in scripting the automation of building and deploying applications and maintain source code repositories. This individual will be the first point of contact for any technical and application support needs for the Australian and Asian teams of LHT during the Australian day time.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Working closely with the Engineers based in Spain, the Application Support Engineer will support the product IT operations of existing applications and will work closely with the development and devops teams, during all phases of the application development in a Windows based environment.
2.The individual will work closely with the other Engineers and Dev Ops teams based globally in scripting the automation of building and deploying applications and maintain source code repositories.
3.Working in Brisbane with other LHT colleagues, this person will be the main contact person for any technical queries raised by the team or customers.
4.This person is expected to support LHT's product server availability during the Australian time-zone and be able to triage and troubleshoot reported technical issues, in conjunction with multiple Verisk IT team(s) as required
5.The individual will need to monitor and respond to Production server and application anomalies and performance degradation
6.The individual will work closely with the wider DevOps, Application Support and Product teams in performing root cause analysis for any issues and the implementation of the fixes
7.The individual will support the DevOps Lead to deliver the product operation activities including deploying content updates and generating usage reports.
8.The individual will support the implementation of production migrations in co-ordination with multiple geographic locations
9.The individual will assist with Cloud environment setup and implementation plan
10.The individual will support the Product team with periodic data update process and building and executing robust test processes for all of the products
11.The individual will critically examine each step of the data update process, and suggest and work with the teams to implement improvements in the process
12.The individual will assist with the successful rollout of new LHT products internationally, ensuring that region-specific differences are maintained, documented and accounted for within datasets.
13.The individual will assist in the preparation of technical specification and user guides for product.
14.The individual will perform comprehensive testing of new products and services released or developed by VRR, ensuring their suitability to market–this includes manual testing and building automated test suites as needed.
15.The individual will assist in assessing development requirements for local clients in Australia and Asia, and work with the UK team to develop any required approval requests and/ or specifications
16.The individual will remain abreast of the market demands and competitor capabilities to understand future requirements, business needs and to identify areas for internal research and development opportunities.
17.The individual will assist with the extraction of data and preparation of reports from our data warehouse
