Summary

Posted: Sep 23, 2021 Weekly Hours: 40 Role Number: 200214741 The PPO-Test team features a collaborative environment with highly creative, smart people developing technologies and solutions to test display & sensing modules for various Apple products and emerging technologies. The team features opportunities for individuals to contribute across a wide spectrum of disciplines and product lines. Working closely with product design team, and optics, electrical and software engineering to deliver world class products and cutting-edge technologies. The position is open for a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development and deployment of test systems for touch, sensing and display modules for mass production. The role involves working closely with the product design teams to support the entire gamut of Apple products and emerging technologies.

Key Qualifications

Key Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ yrs. mechanical system design experience (tool, fixture, mechatronics, electronics packaging, optics)
  • 3D CAD experience required (NX, SolidWorks, Pro/E)
  • Disciplined in drafting & GD&T practices
  • Experience with analysis: FEA, Tolerance stackup, Error budget, RCA
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods (precision machining, heat treatments etc.)
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10+ yrs. experience in equipment development ideally in high volume production environments
  • 5+ yrs. experience in opto-mechanical design (camera/optical mounts, kinematic mounts, compliant mechanism design)
  • Experience in designing stand-alone functional test stations ideally for consumer electronics products/modules
  • Experience designing mechanical outlines for PCB, FPC, connectors etc.
  • Experience in design of high precision mechanisms & motion control systems
  • Experience in designing for low particle environments/cleanrooms
  • Knowledge of machine/computer vision systems
  • Knowledge of optical system integration, alignment and stability testing
  • Knowledge of robotics, automation and wafer/DUT handling systems
  • Programming knowledge

Description

Description - Drive end-to-end mechanical design of stand-alone functional test systems - Work with cross functional teams for test system development & deployment - Design systems for automation integration & high-volume production environments - Develop system requirements, perform detailed analysis & testing - Apply engineering knowhow in the areas of optics, precision mechanism design & motion control - Apply scientific methods\testing to debug issues and implement robust solutions. - Document best practices, SOPs and maintain a library of proven designs

Education & Experience

Education & Experience MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
