**This position is 100% remote work from home but may require some travel on a quarterly basis to Irvine, CA**

Our client is located in Irvine, CA and is a very successful professional services company that has been in business for over 20+ years. Due to continued company growth they are currently hiring for a new Corporate Controller for a highly visible position that will help the President and CFO ensure that day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department are successfully executed. This includes all functions of a self-contained accounting unit including G/L, Fixed Assets, AR, AP, Payroll, Treasury, and Internal Control (and some tax support). The Controller will also be involved with process improvement efforts that help establish a more effective accounting department.
The ideal candidate will have a CPA license (prefer current) along with current experience managing and leading an accounting department. What You Will Be Doing "Works closely with the CFO to spearhead the department growth and continued operational efficiency of our accounting and finance department. This will include hiring employees and overseeing employees that are geographically distributed.
" Direct Supervision of new positions to be hired, as well as the Accounting Supervisor, Senior Accountant, and Billing and Collections Manager (and indirect supervision of their direct reports).
" Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting department functions including payroll, month-end close, cash forecasting, cash applications, billing, collections, and tax reporting. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
" Hire employees and train them to accomplish the aforementioned accounting tasks.
" Manage the sales allowance reserve and be responsible for accounting estimates.
" Review monthly financial statements and schedules as well as monthly account reconciliations and variance analyses.
" Ensure month-end closings are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
" Work with publicly traded Parent Company and Commercial Segment to ensure all Segment reporting deliverables are provided timely including monthly, quarterly, and annual financials, presentations, and earnings calls.
" Assess current processes and identify best practices that can be introduced within accounting and finance.
" Ensures that proper internal/Sox controls are in place.
" Provide analytical support to other departments as needed. What You Need for this Position - BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance - MBA desired but not mandatory
- a CPA license (prefer current) and strong technical accounting skills
- Financial Modeling / Due Diligence for M&A events is preferred
- Experience working with different Finance and Accounting Software applications - PeopleSoft and Hyperion is preferred
- Experience leading and managing the day-to-day operations of an Accounting Department including all functions of an accounting unit that includes G/L, Fixed Assets, AR, AP, Payroll, Treasury and Internal Control (and Tax) is required.
