What is the Duolingo Thrive Program?

The Duolingo Thrive Program is an immersive 10-week summer training program that provides second-year students from groups historically underrepresented in tech the opportunity to develop their software engineering skills and experience what it’s like to work at Duolingo.

As part of the Thrive Program, you’ll spend the summer learning the fundamentals of Software Engineering at Duolingo. You’ll work with our Software Engineers and other trainees to complete a project that will sharpen your coding and problem solving skills while receiving hands-on technical training, mentorship, and professional development.

What you’ll do...

  • Work within a small group to complete a challenging, real-world software engineering project.
  • Develop your technical skills through engineering talks, training and guest speakers.
  • Attend career-building skill workshops.
  • Receive coaching and mentorship from a Duolingo Software Engineer.
  • Build lasting relationships with others who share a passion for making the best education universally available.
  • Participate in our Company-wide Hackathon.

What we’re looking for...

  • Second-year undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Completion of at least two college-level computer science courses (please upload your official or unofficial transcript).
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Kotlin or Swift.
  • Dedication to our mission of accessible education
  • 10 week consecutive availability from Monday, June 6th, 2022 to Friday, August 12, 2022
  • Ability to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA
