The Role:

Xylem’s Applied Water Systems (AWS) division is looking for a Senior Global EHS Program Manager with an engineering mindset, strong technical, analytical and communication skills with proven strategic and tactical experience at delivering efficient and effective methodologies. Your role will be to create and manage the tools and resources needed for site EHS teams to execute standard work.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Define leading and lagging key performance indicators (KPI) to be used across the company.
  • Define, implement, and automate a “one source of truth” scorecard based on these KPIs for standardization and benchmarking. Scorecards must be automated (both delivery and updates).
  • Manage global safety projects, respective reporting tools and update key stakeholders
  • Manage ISO, Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Management Systems and Leadership Training.
  • Develop reporting tools for initiatives, including systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Outline gaps, risks, and actions to standardize and upgrade existing management systems program.
  • Define compliance assurance strategy and develop tools and resources for seamless execution by sites.
  • Create and automate predictive assurance metrics for strategic planning.
  • Define and manage an ergonomic and manual material handling strategy to aid injury/illness prevention.
  • Define and implement employee engagement initiatives that foster a growing safety culture.
  • Develop and launch employee training tools, resources, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Communicate the overall EHS strategy and roadmap with periodic status updates to stakeholders.
  • Provide project decision support, insights and recommendations through data gathering and information analyzing.
  • Recommend improvements to project scoping, building, testing and deployment across the company.
  • Research and provide recommendations on a wide range of EHS topics, including procurement and budgeting needs
  • Conduct research in response to specific EHS improvement initiatives.
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational health and safety or related field
  • Have or working towards CSP, CIH, NEBOSH, or CHMM certification.
  • 10+ years of professional work in a senior capacity as Sr. Manager, Regional Manager, North America Manager or Global Manager
  • Experience leading multiple large-scale projects/initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that convey complex ideas in a simplified manner.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Operate with a sense of urgency without compromising quality
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Deliver to tight deadlines and targets and demonstrate ownership
  • Proven aptitude to manage many competing projects and priorities.
  • Able to move fluidly between collaborative and independent work styles.
  • Forward thinking Manager with a high degree of customer service, thinking outside of the box, and holding to company policies and goals
  • Validated leadership skills in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate sound decision making, taking ownership, and delivering results.
  • Have the ability to adapt well to growing environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
  • Have a flexible approach to work. Able to organize own priorities, workload, and travel.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Environmental Management
  • Lean, 5S and Kaizen experience
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent.
  • Industrial Ergonomics experience
  • Data Analytics experience
  • Continuous Improvement (CI)
  • Industrial Engineering

  • Moderate physical demand and exposure to shop and field elements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
  • Job Site: Regular exposure to job site conditions and hazards, e.g. petrochemical refineries, mills, mines, construction sites, industrial/power plants, wastewater treatment plants, etc.
  • Shop: Regular exposure to all outdoor weather conditions; intermittent exposure to shop and job site noise.
  • Standard weekly job hours: 40+
