Assistant Program Engineering Manager
Responsible for specifying requirements, execution and evaluation of designs, analysis, development, testing and control of major engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. Consults with leadership as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support PEM in leading execution
  • Facilitate/Lead VAPIR and IVER Build Readiness Reviews
  • Facilitate Program DCR preparation and meetings
  • CAB/EIT (Approve BMB/BCRs, BSDs, and TWOs) support
  • Program voice for CITs, support for VCIT and VPIT as required
  • Assist DREs/VSEs with appropriate change breakpoints to maintain build stability
  • PPO build support and issue resolution for all Engineering KIR deliverables
  • Drive team toward Test Ready Properties and On-time Validation.
  • Lead Program for successful on time factory metrics (GCA, PRTS, DRR, FTQ, etc...)
  • Support initiation and drive timely engineering response to PCCRs
  • Coordination of VWO/ECR packages to ensure expected breakpoint
  • Coordinator of engineering PQRR deliverables, including 5 phases
  • Lead potentials management process to track Program imperatives in PIM
  • Lead resolution of issues across SMTs and GM functions
  • Launch plant support including:
  • Special projects and PEM/VCE assignments
  • Generates technical solutions for New/Major/MCM and LCI programs
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Travels as required, including international

Additional Job Description

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and solving complex problems in a collaborative/inclusive manner.
  • High level analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Knowledge of engineering software and systems as it pertains to job-related area
  • Four or more years’ experience in job-related area (DRE experience is preferred)

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • DRE Experience
  • Launch, program team (APEM, etc), or IRT experience
  • Intimate knowledge of part release process
  • Intimate knowledge of EWO / TWO / PRTS processes

Education and Training:

  • BSE, BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum two years of experience in engineering
  • Design for Six Sigma - Green Belt
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferred)
  • Design for Six Sigma - Black Belt (preferred)
