Job Description

Eaton’s Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Power Test Lab Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Franksville, WI site.

Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Lab Manager, Team Leader or engineers, the Power Test Lab Technician provides operational support with the on-going operation of the Franksville Power Test Laboratories. This includes planning and executing test programs, establishing and maintaining test capabilities and processes, and maintaining and improving lab safety as well as lab practices necessary to comply with ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation.

In this function you will:

  • Perform both standardized and unique tests on electrical power distribution apparatus involving high voltage, high power, and thermal testing; as well as execute planned project activities as well as adjusts for unplanned circumstances.
  • Review test methods required by standards and prepares for test programs by calculating single phase or three phase circuit impedances to obtain the appropriate current levels.
  • Perform physical set-up and teardown of test apparatus and test circuits along with instrumentation and control.
  • Execute test programs by conducting ‘hands-on’ testing, collecting test data, evaluating results, and writing test reports.
  • Provide project support by assisting and participating in project definition, work breakdown, and scheduling. Execute assigned activities on schedule as well as adjusting to unplanned circumstances.
  • Review test methods required by standards and develops procedures as needed to provide repeatable test practices, and incorporate changes to improve quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Maintain and improve both PTL and site safety.
  • Assist the Manager of Environmental, Safety, and Health (MESH) in workstation risk assessments and maintain assigned MESH program
  • Work with site responsible person (SRP) as required on electrical safety enhancements

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a lab
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship now and in the future
  • No relocation is offered for this role. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Franksville, WI facility.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience with designing products for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres
  • Experience in design for harsh and hazardous environments.
  • Experience in control systems, sensors, wireless connectivity, SW/FW/HW design and development

Position Criteria:

  • Willing to travel 10% interplant within SE Wisconsin facilities
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
