Job Description JOB SUMMARY:
BAE Systems’ Electronic Combat Solutions is seeking a talented Principal FPGA Design Engineer experienced in the design, development and implementation of FPGA’s for the Defense sector, radar-based applications experience is advantageous. Experience in the design of control-path, data-path and/or signal processing is desired. Successful candidates will be a part of the FPGA development process and own their FPGA design from the conceptual stage, through the specification, micro-architecture, FPGA design and VHDL coding and verification stages, through integration and test in the lab. This role is based in our Austin, TX facility.

Electronic Combat Solutions Hardware Engineering Group is looking for a Principal Digital FPGA Design Engineer to support FPGA designs through all phases of development.
The ideal candidate is expected to perform activities including assisting in requirements generation and design architecture, as well as ownership of RTL coding, synthesis, basic test bench development, lab testing, and product support.
There are multiple growth paths for the individual, technically or otherwise - Technical Lead on future programs, Technical Subject Matter Expert, Control Account Manager, or Functional Manager.
**Pursuant to a specific US Government contract, this position requires US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a minimum of Secret Clearance**Required Education, Experience, & Skills •Current Security Clearance (Secret), or eligible to obtain one
•Experience in FPGA (preferred) or ASIC Design / Development, including:
Ability to distill higher level requirements into micro-architecture
VHDL (preferred) or Verilog HDL coding
Experience with digital design tools and simulators
Experience with designer-level test bench (VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog)
Familiarity with revision control (git, cvs, clearcase, etc.)
Familiarity with static timing analysis
Experience in the use of FPGA internal logic analyzer (ILA/chipscope/signaltap)
•Strong debug and problem solving skills
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Self-starter and a good team player
•Ability to mentor and willingness to be mentored
•Experience in and willingness for lab testingPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills •Experience with Xilinx ISE/Vivado or Altera Quartus tools
•Familiarity with revision control (git, cvs, clearcase, etc.) tools
•Working knowledge of internal logic analyzer (ILA/chipscope/signaltap)
•Experience with DSP fundamentals and FPGA implementation
•Experience with Matlab/Simulink
•Experience dealing with legacy designs
•Experience in hardware design and hands-on lab debug is a plus
•Working understanding of Radar systems is a plus
•Experience working in UVM/System Verilog testing environment
•Experience with generating scripts (Perl, Tcl, Python)
•Working knowledge of C/C++
•Experience with high speed ADC/DAC interface, SERDES, PCIe, DDR2/3/4
