Your Opportunity


The Senior Manager, Data Governance position will drive the daily data governance activities for Schwab Banking & Trust Services enterprises including: Schwab Bank, Schwab Premier Bank, Schwab Trust Bank, The Trust Company of Delaware and The Trust Company of Nevada. This is a specialized individual contributor role that will report directly to the Director of BTS Infrastructure and Program Support.

The Data Governance Senior Manager is the overall caretaker of the enterprise data assets, ensuring end to end data quality, accuracy, consistency, and security across the enterprise. This person will also coordinate all data governance activities for BTS and will engage with leaders and specialists at all levels to ensure the implementation and compliance of data governance is within firm data governance standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the Delegate Business Data Steward for the BTS enterprise, ensuring appropriate and effective data governance for mortgage, PAL, deposit, personal trust, and business trust data
  • Facilitate the local data governance forum meetings, ensuring content is available in the governance applications
  • Responsible for leading and maintaining data quality and day-to-day data management functions
  • Support the data governance efforts to build a robust data inventory complete with associated metadata and data lineage, collect changes to the use and consumption of data, and establish monitoring of data quality
  • Collaborate with the business and technical professionals to implement data controls in alignment with the firm’s data risk management framework
  • Create and compile business metadata in compliance with firm data governance standards for new and existing data elements; working with key business personnel to establish appropriate organizational change processes and identify data quality metrics
  • Ensure business rules are adhered to when data is created, updated, deleted, retired, and archived by performing data quality control activities
  • Support the growth of a new data governance structure for the BTS enterprise by maximizing best practices for collecting metadata and educating personnel on the governance applications, processes and procedures
  • Build effective working relationships with business and technical partners to support data governance efforts, coordinate and collaborate with business and technical partners to establish relevant metadata and data lineage, and use their support to integrate our data governance efforts

What you have


  • 5+ years of experience in data governance and/or data management preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry preferred
  • Deep understanding of data and its use/impact across an enterprise
  • Strong analytic skills and the ability to effectively transform concepts into robust business metadata that can be easily understood by others
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish relationships and work effectively with multiple business partners across all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor's degree required

Colorado Compensation
Target Total Compensation - $111,600 - $182,200
