Work to assemble and install all components required for final assembly of aircraft seating by working from verbal instructions, work orders, trim and finish drawings, pick sheets and technical drawings / Bills of Materials in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Make all final adjustments, alignments and corrections necessary to assure compliance to all quality and specification requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform all sub-assembly and component assembly operations required to completely assemble aircraft seating.
  • Understand and utilize pick sheets, trim and finish drawings, work orders, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and verbal instructions to properly and efficiently assemble all components.
  • Setup and use all types of fixtures, jigs and testing equipment required to manufacture aircraft seating.
  • Make all final checks and adjustments required for proper functional operation of details, components and completed seat assemblies
  • Read technical drawings to determine layouts, organize sequences of operation, and ensure that work is performed according to appropriate specifications.
  • Move materials and working/completed products to and from work positions.
  • Keep accurate records and make reports in accordance with work performance requirements, including but not limited to accepted test procedures and accepted test reports.
  • Meet all production and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and report all discrepancies to management.
  • If required, detect problems and make field repairs to seats after installation in aircraft or at customers’ premises.
  • Represent Collins Aerospace in a professional and businesslike manner at all times.

TYPICAL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT INVOLVED:

  • Pop guns, drill motors, countersinks, reamers, sanders, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, punches, tape measures and any other hand tool required in the assembly of aircraft seating.

  • Ability to stand, walk constantly
  • Constantly grasping/handling and performing fine manipulation
  • Ability to reach, step, bend, stoop and twist frequently
  • May work at floor level occasionally

Basic Qualifications:

  • HS diploma. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • An understanding of data collection devices and their proper usage.
  • An understanding of computers and the ability to enter and retrieve data from PCs as required.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull materials weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.
