Job Description
KPMG is currently seeking a Manager or Senior Manager to join our Trade and Customs practice.
Responsibilities:
- Support the national practice with data and analytics capabilities to identify duty drawback opportunities
- Coordinate with Global Trade Management (GTM) system implementation teams on data reporting to facilitate duty drawback filings
- Research, write, and review duty drawback advice, formulate ideas and deliver possible future duty drawback services
- Communicate with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on technical duty drawback matters and prepare duty drawback entries for electronic submission to CBP
- Support clients in maintaining overall compliance with CBP duty drawback regulations
- Undertake activities to proactively enhance savings through expansion of clients duty drawback programs
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Manager:
- Manage engagements, client relationships and staff members
- Support Client, Market and Business Development in the practice
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of duty drawback experience as a customs attorney, customs broker, industry trade specialist, US Customs drawback auditor, or import specialist, which includes duty drawback experience and may include experience in The Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs federal regulations, NAFTA, entry processes, valuation, and informed compliance methods
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university (JD / LLM degree is preferred) or twenty years of experience; CBL (Customs Brokers License)** issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, CUSICO (Certified U.S. Import Compliance Officer)**, CUSECO (Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer)**, Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)** certification issued by the National Customs Broker and Forwarders Association of America, CPA, MBA, or JD/LLM (Please note that any candidate hired by KPMG into this position that doesn't currently possess one of the aforementioned credentials/designations will be required to secure one within one year from the commencement of employment)
- Previous experience in a tax or advisory services firm, corporation, customs broker, government, or trade law firm
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (including Access) and top duty drawback preparation software
- Strong interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication/presentation skills
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
Additional Qualifications for Senior Manager:
- A minimum of eight years of duty drawback experience as a customs attorney, customs broker, industry trade specialist, US Customs drawback auditor, or import specialist, which includes duty drawback experience and may include experience in The Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs federal regulations, NAFTA, entry processes, valuation, and informed compliance methods
- Client and market business development experience
