Your Opportunity


Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for implementing a firm-wide, end-to-end vendor relationship management process to maximize vendor performance and value. CVM provides strategic sourcing support; identifies, mitigates, monitors, and handles vendor risks; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements.

The Schwab CVM Offshore Program is responsible for the management and governance of Schwab’s preferred offshore vendors located in India and support domestic professional service. These vendors provide application development, testing, production support and analysis services to Schwab’s shared technology group. We are looking for an individual contributor to help handle the overall program.

What you are good at


The Senior Manager will play a crucial role within Corporate Vendor Management handling the offshore program and domestic professional service agreement. You will be responsible for the CVM offshore and onshore work order sourcing; you will work closely with work order managers to source work (RFX), select vendors and structure IT work orders.

You will be responsible for the ongoing offshore and onshore vendor management such as ongoing vendor management of preferred vendors including administration of vendor calls, pipeline reviews, operational issue advancement, performance management, pulse survey etc.

This position will be responsible for the offshore work center oversight (OWCO). You are responsible for the offshore governance and oversight of offshore work centers. This includes

  • Management of a third-party audit firm performing site testing in India
    • Offshore Program Process Improvement: Work reciprocally with key constituencies (Finance, Accounting, Human Resource, Legal, Third-Party Risks Management, Cyber Security etc.) to review and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Offshore Program processes and practices and to supervise the OWCO risks management, coordination, reporting, oversight for offshore work centers.
  • Handle onshore sourcing, delivery governance and capability
    • Active role in design and implementation of a sustainable IT domestic delivery capability.
    • Collaborate closely with Risk Management teams to evaluate the current governance control structure and create a standardized structure for replication across vendors.
    • Observe and measure work order capacity changes.
  • Handles and coordinate offshore activities related impacting events (network upgrades, network engineering and architecture, capacity planning, proxy infrastructure, virtual desktop infrastructure, new engagement technology specifications, hardware, technology etc.

Ad hoc projects/advancements as required, and this is an Individual contributor role.

What you have


  • 5+ years of shown experience in strategic sourcing, consulting, vendor management, risk management, audit and/or procurement (required)
  • Deep understanding and experience of technology infrastructure outsourcing and in sophisticated corporate environments (required)
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and familiar with Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council
  • Information Technology outsourcing handbook and offshore and onshore oversights unique to financial services.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills with a shown track record of building effective working relationships with senior level business partners including IT decision makers, risk teams, Finance/Accounting, HR and Legal.
  • The ability to lead cross-functional teams and build category management plans that maximize value and mitigate risks while ensuring internal partners’ requirements are met
  • Extraordinary relationship building skills and global experience working with and influencing business leaders and supplier executives
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present business and technical issues, ideas, and recommendations clearly in verbal, written and presentation formats
  • Authoritative negotiation skills in both financial and business matters, including commercial terms for strategic contracts
  • A clear ability to inspire change, handle disagreement, bring together disparate points of view, make decisions, and build consensus to deliver on objectives.
  • Solid understanding of legal, professional services, and contingent labor related contract terms and conditions
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution, facilitation, and negotiation skills and work independently and/or team setting.
  • Proficient in Excel (required), Word (required), Visio and PowerPoint skills a plus.
  • Experience with Ariba, Hiperos, SharePoint and access a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree and/or Third-Party Risk Management certification preferred.
