About The Role

At Dialpad, we have developed our own state-of-the-art ASR system to address the unique challenges of transcribing real-life human to human business conversations. We are actively doing R&D to improve acoustic modeling, handling of a wide range of accents and dialects, and modeling customers' unique vocabulary. ASR is a critical function in our mission to provide conversational insights at scale to our users with AI.

Our Speech Recognition Engineers get to apply ASR to the practical solution of business phone conversations; bridging the gap between academia and industry. A day in the life of a senior engineer could involve building cutting edge solutions for real-time production applications, researching new ideas and how they could apply to our products, helping to brainstorm on the future direction of the team, and helping to lead more junior employees in their work. No matter what they are doing on a given day they will be having a meaningful impact on the customer’s experience while working in a highly collaborative and supportive environment.

We have a team culture that emphasizes continuous learning and keeping up with advances in the field of speech and natural language processing. We have internal seminars each week to discuss experimental results and review papers, and encourage team members to participate in academic conferences.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience building ASR systems with Kaldi or another ASR system, this could be through a Ph.D. and publications or deploying systems to production environments
• Proficiency in some programming languages such as Python, Bash, C/C++, SQL
• Strong machine learning background and familiarity with state of the art neural networking and statistical modeling techniques applied to speech, including DNNs, bLSTMs, RNNs, and end-to-end systems.
• Willing to work collaboratively with those in EST and PST time zones
