Job Description

Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join our team. This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.

Position Overview:

The purpose of this position is to provide design engineering services instrumental to the completion of major projects. This position is to lead engineering project teams of designers/discipline specific engineers to create complete designs including both electrical and layout packages.

The role is responsible for managing design deliverables to maintain project schedule, design budget, design accuracy, and submittal completeness working in concert with designers. This role is charged with value added engineering of team designs to provide a quality product while driving efficiencies. This role shall act as a single point of contact to project manager for design technical assistance.

Skills and responsibilities include:

  • Knowledge and understanding of turnkey projects
  • Engineering estimating, sales support, and proposal creation
  • Ability to implement project cost tracking tools
  • Knowledge and skills to develop and manage engineering scope and changes
  • Ability to develop and maintain engineering schedules
  • Ability to lead multidiscipline engineering design teams
  • Ability to manage engineering budgets
  • Ability to maintain engineering QA/QC process
  • Ability to create, prioritize and maintain engineering project action item list.
  • Ability to support multiple projects

Engineering design experience with medium/low voltage electrical distribution equipment ranging from 208V up to 35kV with a focus on the following:

  • Equipment specifications
  • Power system studies
  • Single line drawings
  • General arrangement drawings
  • Elevation drawings
  • Three line drawings
  • Schematics
  • Wiring/Interconnection diagrams
  • Conduit/cable plans
  • Lighting plans/drawings
  • Control power drawings
  • Grounding drawings/details
  • Civil foundation drawings
  • Equipment testing procedures
  • Commissioning plans
  • As-built drawings

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of science in electrical engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five years of engineering or engineering design experience
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the work location(s) listed. No relocation is being offered for this role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PE License
  • Working knowledge of NEC & ANSI
  • Engineering design experience with medium voltage switchgear ranging from 5kV up to 35kV

Position Success Criteria:

  • Possess and maintain a valid & unrestricted drivers license
  • Submit to periodic drug and background screenings as required by customers
  • Successfully complete and maintain compliance with the company’s safety program
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Experience with MV/LV switchgear and electrical distribution equipment
  • Familiarity with power system engineering calculation
