Position Description:

Medicines Development Information and Digital Solutions (MD IDS) serves as a strategic function within Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL) partnering with the Medicines Development Unit (MDU). The MDU focuses on taking potential marketable products from Research through product registration and approval.

MD IDS focuses on the MDU business needs of the future, enabling improvements through information and technology solutions. The teams define and influence information and business strategies, design and develop solutions to achieve the strategic outcomes, and ensure reliable deployment and support of these solutions.

The role of the electronic clinical outcome assessment (eCOA) Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting eCOA data related services for cross functional teams. In addition, this role will serve as a technical expert to the eCOA SaaS Platform support team. The split between development and support will be 40/60. This position will report to the Clinical Results Platform Manager/Team Leader.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • High agility to digest and demonstrate the ability to extend the capabilities of the platform to met business needs.

  • Understands business requirements and effectively translates business needs and process into technical terms, and vice versa
  • Elicits and defines requirements
  • Ensures appropriate business roles are engaged in solution execution.
  • Participates in design reviews to ensure traceability of requirements.
  • Networks with appropriate IT colleagues to determine solutions to meet business partners’ needs.
  • Seeks opportunities to reuse existing processes and services to streamline support and implementation of key systems.
  • Stay abreast of tools and technologies to influence IT strategy so that it provides best usage opportunities for business
  • Partner with and influence vendor resources on solution development to ensure understanding of data and technical direction for solutions as well as delivery
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a constantly changing environment
  • Assisting study teams with diagnose and tracking of defects within the eCOA SaaS platform
  • Assist study teams with data mapping, data integration, reporting and data exports
  • Modifies existing systems or integrates packaged systems with existing infrastructure to meet business requirements
  • Creation of Python and Node.JS scripts to enable job controls within the SaaS platform
  • Produces and maintains project documentation as required, including that of Computer Systems Quality
  • Uses standardized processes for requirements definition, analysis, design, construct, and test activities

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant IT experience programing with Node.js or Python and JSON.
  • 2+ years of experience with relational and non-relational database technologies utilizing SQL, Data Functions and Procedures. (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Experience with mobile development and calling API’s to obtain or share content with a SaaS Platform
  • Technical proficiency with HTML, Data Mapping, understanding of database structures, ETL, etc.
  • Demonstrated learning agility both technically as well as business processes and applications
  • Demonstrated initiative to build relationships, learn new business processes and identify opportunities

Additional Preferred Requirements:

  • Technical proficiency with eDC (electronic data capture)
  • Has worked with organizations that provide software-as-a-service (SaaS).
  • Curiosity about business and IT processes
  • Clinical research experience/knowledge

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent work experience) in computer science, information technology, or management information systems.

Other Information: Travel to US or other Lilly entities may be required.
