The Vendor Operations team is part of the Enterprise Vendor Services team in Technology and Operations that focuses on operational consistency and reliability, ensuring the efficient flow of goods and data between REI and our vendors. Vendor Operations works closely with Merchandising and Co-op Brands to onboard new vendors by collecting vendor information, inputting vendor data into SAP, setting up the EDI connection with the vendors, and helping new vendors with questions about operational policies. Vendor Operations supports the efficient and accurate exchange of information through the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system. Vendors receive purchase orders through EDI. REI’s Merchandising, Finance, and Supply Chain teams receive ship notices and invoices from vendors through EDI which allow for efficient receipt of product and invoice payment. Vendor Operations manages the non-compliance program, providing information to vendors about how to ship product to REI, helping to ensure that orders arrive when expected and may be received accurately and efficiently. The team handles disputes from vendors to non-compliance fees that are sent due to shipments that arrive out of compliance. Our Vendor Operations analysts operationally manage around 1,100 REI vendor partners to ensure they successfully transact with REI.
