The Vendor Operations team is part of the Enterprise Vendor Services team in Technology and Operations that focuses on operational consistency and reliability, ensuring the efficient flow of goods and data between REI and our vendors. Vendor Operations works closely with Merchandising and Co-op Brands to onboard new vendors by collecting vendor information, inputting vendor data into SAP, setting up the EDI connection with the vendors, and helping new vendors with questions about operational policies. Vendor Operations supports the efficient and accurate exchange of information through the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system. Vendors receive purchase orders through EDI. REI’s Merchandising, Finance, and Supply Chain teams receive ship notices and invoices from vendors through EDI which allow for efficient receipt of product and invoice payment. Vendor Operations manages the non-compliance program, providing information to vendors about how to ship product to REI, helping to ensure that orders arrive when expected and may be received accurately and efficiently. The team handles disputes from vendors to non-compliance fees that are sent due to shipments that arrive out of compliance. Our Vendor Operations analysts operationally manage around 1,100 REI vendor partners to ensure they successfully transact with REI.

  • Creates and maintains vendor master data in accordance with the established processes and tools. Striving to exceed the established service levels while ensuring the highest data quality
  • Provides excellent customer service while operationally overseeing a selected group of vendor partners and assisting internal customers. Manages work on their own while meeting established SLAs
  • Ensures consistency and reliability within the supply chain by making sure vendors are meeting REI’s policy requirements and are held accountable to either improvements in behavior or chargebacks to recoup labor and/or material costs incurred by REI
  • Collaborates with team members and business partners to build relationships, identify requirements and opportunities for developing and improving our processes
  • Strong team player – actively collaborates with members of the team and assists team members with aspects of their work
  • Leads or supports assigned projects and communicates effectively
  • Evaluates metrics and analyzes data to gauge vendor performance and identify new opportunities
  • Assists with development, ongoing maintenance, and standardization of external and internal processes, training materials and SOPs.
  • Interrogation of outbound and inbound EDI documents and SAP Idocs for issue resolution
  • Contribute to the design and support of metrics/reporting

Bring your passion and expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 1+ years of vendor account management experience including onboarding, communication, and education with suppliers; creating and maintaining vendor portals; creating and maintaining vendor educational programs (preferred
  • 1-2+ years of SAP experience, preferably with vendor master and PO management (preferred)
  • 1-2+ years of experience with B2B capabilities and/or technologies, such as EDI, XML, and Idocs (preferred)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Intermediate skills in data analytics and project management (preferred)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to effectively deliver presentations and perform training
  • Strong organizational skills to manage large volumes of email while meeting service level agreements
  • Detail-oriented and accurate with a focus on quality
  • Builds rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization
  • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
  • Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions
