Business area

Global External Sourcing (GES) supports the Operations strategy by establishing and managing suppliers across the world that meet our global standards. Through external suppliers, the team manages approximately one third of AstraZeneca’s value of production.

GES plays a key role in ensuring the external supply chains are robust and deliver value to AstraZeneca through driving continuous improvement. To continue delivering value for AstraZeneca we are on a Digital transformation journey to find smart & Lean solutions to deliver for our patients. GES is also one of the Digital Lighthouses in the AstraZeneca Operations networks.

We now have an opportunity for a Digital Transformation Lead to join us.

What you’ll do

As a Digital Transformation Lead you will be accountable for driving the delivery of innovative business solutions to create maximum competitive advantage. You will work with a broad range of key business partners on all levels, to set clear direction on the Digital Journey for GES and explore new digital opportunities in & outside AstraZeneca.

In this role you will be expected to

  • Identify and facilitate the adoption of new tools that allow the business to operate in more efficient ways to connect AZ with our CMOs, have a LEAN approach to remove waste from the value chain such as duplication and manual processes
  • Act as GES Digital Lighthouse Lead to enable collaboration between GES and other Lighthouse sites.
  • Work collaboratively within GES to develop Supplier integration strategy and work with suppliers to deliver technology
  • Lead the Digital transformation plan for GES - assembling all digital initiatives whether GES wide, functional or globally driven. The solutions will serve the business today and in the future and will address any identified gaps
  • Lead Digital capability uplift in GES to create a mentality of innovation and digital transformation ensuring understanding, adoption and embracing of the change across GES
  • Develop and be responsible for a Digital Governance model within GES to ensure standardised technologies & processes are adopted
  • Establish metrics for tracking progress and maturity of digital transformation in GES
  • Lead key digital projects in GES ensuring clear cost/benefit analysis, risks are mitigated, issues handled and clear reporting to good project management standards.

Essential for the role

  • Ability to self-lead while working with complexity and handle ambiguity
  • Proven experience of successfully deploying a variety of business analysis tools/techniques to enable business change
  • Proven experience of working with complex integrated systems, using creative and critical thinking to deliver exceptional results
  • Strong engagement, communication and key business partner management skills, including excellent presentation and influencing skills
  • Experience of virtual collaboration to lead, shape and develop innovative solutions
  • Proven experience of building innovative digital solutions e.g. databases, BOTs, RPAs, Apps, programming capability
  • Analytical, detail oriented, highly organised

Desirable for the role

  • Graduate status or equivalent in experience
  • Project Management (Practical usage of Agile Methodology) and Change Management.
  • Lean SIX SIGMA training
  • Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context
  • Pharmaceutical business awareness/business domain knowledge/ Cross industry business awareness
