Description: Responsible for the daily operation and instruction of students enrolled in the Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health Sciences (KPSAHS) educational programs. Ensures that proper educational requirements are met, monitors examination and classroom scheduling, provides instruction in assigned classes, problem solves, and facilitates activities related to the functioning of allied health programs at KPSAHS. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements, and monitors program curriculum for specified courses. Ensures that all required didactic, lab and clinical educational needs are met.
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of program students. Provides instruction, counseling, and guidance for students.
  • Acts as liaison as required with all clinical training site instructors and ensures that educational standards are met and records are maintained.
  • Assists the daily operation of the designated educational program.
  • Substitutes for other instructors as needed.
  • Assists in the testing and interviewing of program applicants.
  • Gives recommendations for and monitors the program budget.
  • Interprets the National and State standards for accreditation.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures necessary for compliance with these standards.
  • Support programmatic accreditation; assisting with accreditation renewal.
  • Actively participate in faculty committees.
  • Assists in the acquisition and maintenance of both national and state accreditation for the training program. Meets with the accrediting agencies to discuss program operation and development. Incorporates all necessary operational functions to comply with accreditation requirement.
  • Kaiser Permanente conducts compensation reviews of positions on a routine basis. At any time, Kaiser Permanente reserves the right to reevaluate and change job descriptions, or to change such positions from salaried to hourly pay status. Such changes are generally implemented only after notice is given to affected employees.
  • Basic Qualifications: Experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of full-time experience in the professional discipline.
  • Education
  • Associates degree OR two (2) yrs of experience.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • BLS certificate required.
  • For Medical Assistant Faculty: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT) or CCMA (NHA).
  • For Phlebotomy Faculty: California Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
  • Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mininimum one (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a classroom or clinical instructor (preceptor) in an accredited training program.
  • For Phlebotomy Faculty: Minimum two (2) years experience in a CDPH LFS approved program.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare services, education, business administation, or related field.
