What is the opportunity?

The DNA (Data & Analytics) group is responsible for enabling RBC to be a data-driven organization. As part of this mission, DNA works with various lines of businesses (Personal & Commercial Banking, Wealth Management, Insurance, Capital Markets, etc...) to create and build data-driven solutions that serve our clients better.

As part of the Calgary enterprise data team, you will be a human-centered problem solver and design thinker, helping our partners and clients create a vision to transform experiences. We approach problems with curiosity and empathy. The team will build and support data-driven products and services/API’s, tackle challenging and interesting data-related problems using RBC's massive internal datasets (client relationships, user behavior across channels, transactions, etc....) and strategically partner with the business to enable client interactions to be informed by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

What will you do?

  • Support project strategy and cross-functional teams through the design thinking process as part of a diverse group including business, operations, technology, design and development
  • Frame problem spaces by considering multiple perspectives driving alignment amongst cross-functional teams
  • Co-create and present research insights that are actionable, compelling, and connected to business strategy to a range of audiences
  • Design and conduct primary research (ex: in-depth interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies) and secondary research (ex: competitive analysis, strategic foresight) focused on building empathy for users
  • Synthesize multiple data sources and research insights into artifacts (ex: journey maps, personas, ecosystem maps)
  • Co-create and design workshops and ideation sessions to understand the current state and ideate on the potential future state
  • Work in a fast-paced setting where problem spaces are broad and often ambiguous

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Graduate degree in related a related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5yrs+ of qualitative research experience including selecting research methodologies, user recruitment, leading research projects and presenting insights to stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of design thinking methodologies, tools and research methods
  • Proven relationship management skills and the ability to maintain successful partnerships
  • The ability to take complex information and present insights in a simplified, easy to understand, visually appealing way to stakeholders
  • Collaborative team player

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in the financial services sector/corporate setting
  • Acumen in analytics and quantitative research
  • Background in Strategic Foresight
  • Experience leading design strategy and aligning cross-functional teams through projects with effective project management skills.
